Who do you guys think is the best manufacturor of aftermarket connectors? OEM, Scherer, or Ghost?

The Ghost claims to shorten reset and the length of trigger pull, but "Minor Gunsmithing" is required. How much/what kind of work is involved?

I've often seen the Glock's trigger referred to as "Mushy", and there are two things to replace in order to fix that, and make it seamless: the connector and the trigger spring. With a 3.5lb connector and a "Competition" trigger spring, is this possible? Or would a 3.5lb connector and NY 8lb Trigger Spring do a better job? Is one part even necessary if you have the other (replacing the connector or trigger spring)?

Also, the Grip Plug that glockparts sells is the "Pearce" plug. What kind of quality can one expect?

Is an aftermarket barrel (Barsto or something like that) absolutely necessary for the occasional reload? I don't think I'd shoot many in the pistol's life, but you never know... In the event that I have to buy an aftermarket barrel, who's the best manufacturor for Glock barrels?

Is Glockparts.com even the best place to buy any of the parts that I'd be purchasing for the pistol? They've got the lowest price on Mepro night sights for the Glock, but I haven't researched any other dealers for some of the other parts I'm looking at.

The other addition that I'm considering (Other than a SureFire X200B, of course, and Meprolight Night Sights) is an extended slide stop. What brand is the extended slide stop that Glockparts sells? Is it OEM?

What's the cheapest place in Canada to buy the newest-style 9mm Full size magazines (G17)?

And finally, Police Ordnance, do they sell only refurbished guns and magazines, or are they new Glock pistols from the factory?

EDIT: Here's the links to the different parts:
All the Plugs
All the Connectors
All the Slide Stops
All the Trigger Springs

Thanks for your time,

Brad

Sounds like someone is about to get his first pistol!

I will comment on the aftermarket barrel. It is not necessary for reloads, but do not use raw lead in Glocks. Use coated lead projectiles, such as Frontier as marketed by Marstar.

I think that Mepros are better than Trijicon. I would say that the three 'must have' mods for the Glock 17 (in order) include 3.5lb connector, extended mag release and extended slide release.

Get the grip plug when you have surplus funds and nothing to add to the gun. IMHO it adds nothing of any tangible use unless you are rolling around in mud.

Police Ordnance as the name says is a Law Enforcement supplier however they do sell to the public and they are a full service glock dealer... They can do trigger work for you but it will be glock parts...

Or talk to Mark at Questar.ca he's got great prices on glocks...

The Glock 34 and 35 both have extended mag and slide release so they should be standard Glock parts.

As for the aftermarket barrel I wouldn't spend the money unless your shooting 40 S&W reloaded with a fast burning powder. From what I've read that's what causes most KB's.

Police Ordinance will not sell you a new gun, only used to the civilian market.

I dont think that a extended slide release is necessary.

I mean I used one for IPSC and I was able to do bump reload. IE all i had to do is insert the mags and apply some force to the base pad, it would lock the mag and set the disconnector off thus chambering a round.

Extended mag release is necessary. doesn't have to be fancy the stock glock extended is good enough.

Police Ordnance should be able to get you the factory 3.5# disconector, extended mag release, springs etc. They sell police referbished g17 and also new ones.

Aftermarket in a 17 is not necessary, because factory has a supported barrel, only gotta worry when you move up to the 40cal and up.

As for the plug just a waste of money. I mean I dropped glock mags in the mud then used them in the gun and diddn't effect anything.

+1 Robert said.
I have factory extended slide and mag release.
I did buy a plug though. I had extra funds, and it was cheap on ebay.
Mine came with the trijicon tritium so I don't know what the other ones would be like although I heard heinie adjustables are the cat's ass. I also have a ghost rocket 3.5 disconnecter. My mushy may not be your mushy.

Everything I bought was on ebay and through the GT forum.

My fobus holster and mag carriers, and extra mags were from Police Ordnance.

So, here's the parts I'm looking at...

MeproLight Tritium Night Sights
Competition Trigger Spring (To remove some of the mush)
Jentra Grip Plug
Ghost "Tactical" 5lb Connector
Aro-Tek Extended Slide Stop Lever

And either the T.H.E. Accessories "Competition Mag Release" (Extended aluminum pad) or the OEM Glock Extended Magazine Release.

What do you guys think?

I never felt mush with the factory 3.5# disconector. No need again for any fancy magrelease, Try to keep it factory parts incase you want to shoot ipsc production div.

Yeah, I was leaning more towards the OEM mag release anyway...

I didn't know that the factory connector was 3.5lb, I'll get the "Rocket" instead of the "Tactical", then.

Factory you can get a 3.5# or a 5.5# disconector.

In my Glocks (17,22 & 37) i use Glock OEM 3.5lb connector with the NY trigger 1 spring (olive, 5lb). The coil spring makes the trigger sloppy, use one of the NY triggers. For about $20 you can use OEM parts and do the trigger job.

The extended slide release is a must, much better than the original. My G37 comes stock with one and it is so much easier to drop the slide, more of a surface for your thumb to engage. I put the extended ones on my 17 and 22 and prefer them over the original flat ones.

The extended mag release is also very nice, you don't have to adjust your grip to drop the mags, great for IPSC or other shooting.

If you know what your doing, installing all of these parts takes about five minutes, including complete dissasembly of the gun and reassembly.

I use trijicon night sites one all my Glocks, prefer them over any other brand.

Like I said I never needed a extended control other then the mag release on a glock, I found out you could speed load on a glock EASY. All you had to do is run the gun dry ( ie slide back ) drop the mag insert a new one, and apply some force to the base pad. It would lock the mag and then chamber a round. I never had a problem with feeding or nothing, Its way faster then hitting the slide stop.
