Do you have any plans to mill recesses into the plates so that they don't require modification to the magazine?

No; as if you do that. With the factory mag insert installed you woulld veer be able to get the base pad back off.
There would be no flex and it would end up being a one way snap fit

My understanding of the other baseplates I've looked at is that they go on and off without issue as the magazine tube itself will flex under pressure.

Yes if you make the base pad loose enough. The issue is without the baseplate in the tube,it can flex to much and when dropped it can pop off the aluminum bad pad.
We have done extensive testing

Does the price still drop of you buy 5? It doesn't for me so I am not sure if that was a pre-order perk or if it's just not functioning properly?
