how many rounds does it take to make front sight dirty enough that its hard to shoot ? shot one today and it was so dirty that i had hard time pointing. ( it was a demo gun, i suppose few hundred rounds were fired before i got my hands on this one )

When I had my 31C, I had no problems with it getting dirty. I just wiped it down after every range visit. Sight didn't really get that dirty for me, but I didn't shoot it a lot... hence why I no longer have it.

I had several thousands of rounds down the pipe before I cleaned my 17C and my front sight never got dirty. After around 5000 rounds it still remained clean using both factory and reloaded rounds. I would suspect that the demo model you tried probably had more than a few hundred rounds through it.
 
It does depend a bit on the type of powder but I've shot an IPSC match and didn't notice any diminishing of the sight picture. I use Tru-Glo TFO's and they are very bright. If it's a concern then running a damp cloth or napkin over them will clean them right up. One quick swipe will do it.
 
I have a 22C and don't have a problem with the front getting dirty, you get a bit of black dust but nothing to worry about

the kind of ammunition you use makes a BIG difference, whatever you do don't fire that dirty wolf ammo through your glock "c"
 
thanks guys. maybe a stall i was in had poor lighting or something i did not notice, cause i shot a reg glock right after and the sights were much better. ammo was winchester and im not sure how many rounds were fired, but the gun belongs to Glock, so i would hope they clean them once in a while :)
 
Before I bought my Glock I tried a G22 in both variations. I didn't notice much of a difference in recoil, but the blast and flash were much more noticeable. No problems with the sights but I only fired 250rnds through each.
