Glock double taps on it's own?!?

Greetings, I just want opinions from more experienced pistol shooters than me on something I get every time I take my Glock 17 out.

Details:
- regular Glock 17.
- replaced the slide lock lever with something bigger than the original.
- replaced the trigger connector to get a 3.5 pounds pull.

Once is a while, it will double tap. Like SUPER fast, almost like it is on automatic (which it cannot be). So I am wondering if something is wrong with the pistol, or with my finger "bouncing" on the short reset and firing again...

I have shot or own many other pistols (92FS, PPQ, M&P, 1911, Strike One, GP100, Browning Buckmark) and I never had this happening to me. I have shot one other Glock (19 that one) with the 3.5 connector and did not have this problem.

I have not had a chance to put back the original factory connector to see if that is the problem.

Any thoughts, comments welcome,

Typical problem when you put aftermarket things in a Glock. It is a known issue and it is very unsafe.
 
What connector did you put in it, one that prevents over travel or requires fitting .. or one of the standard Ghost like ones that are just drop in? It is unsafe and sounds like the reset was modified to be way to short, that and your grip / recoil is leading to the double tap. Not uncommon .. and not good.

Standard drop in. I know it is somewhat related to my grip and recoil management, but it is way to sensitive. I will put back the original and see on Saturday if it helps.
 
Great okay, because I've never seen this happen with the drop in connectors unless they're rocket style and need fitting on the tab. Since you don't have a custom trigger, trigger bar or anything like that this is strange.

I've had the same mods on my Glock 17 before and never had that issue (LWD 3.5 connector). I'm guessing bump firing.
 
I did some research, seems like it happens to many shooters (small percentage). I will put back the original connector and consider what I will do after that...
 
What happened is that your release and reset points got too close together. And when that happens the gun can "bump fire" in your grip. I'm not a Glock guy but if you can fit or modify the new connector to space out the release and reset points a little more you might get the winner of a gun that you wished for with the new connector.

You can test this by dry firing the gun. #### the gun and pull the trigger and hold it back fully. Rack the slide to re-#### the gun and then SLOWLY release the trigger. Take note of where you feel the reset "click". Once it does then start to pull back. Take note of where the trigger releases. There should be a good 2 to 3mm of motion at the tip of the trigger between the reset point and the release point. And even 2mm might well give you the occasional double or triple. Check what your stock disconnector gives you now. You want the new one to have a little less travel between the reset and release. But not TOO much less or you start getting these doubles and possible triples or more. And in fact you're on the hairy edge of running more than triple tap strings the way it is if you're getting the occasional double.
