Glock Failure

Took my Gen 4 19 for a spin today. 210 rounds in the slide lock spring (part 20) failed and in effect made my slide lock (part 21) fall out.

I hadn't noticed the slide lock fall out and as I pulled the trigger the glock went out of battery not firing.

Took it to reliable gun in vancouver and they fixed it in 5 minuets.

Anyone ever experience this before? I've spoken to three glock armorers and they have all said they have never seen this before.

I got it from questar last week. The guys at my loack gun shop said it should be fixed...and it shouldn't happen again. The only thing they said they noticed was the slide lock being over lubercated (never cleaned it out of the box).

Any thoughts on this?
 
Some G19's have apparently been shipped with a weak slide lock spring causing some malfunctions. Replacing it with a new manufactured spring is suppose to cure the issue. If they replaced the spring for you then you should be good to go.

They didn't actually replace the spring. They just put it back in.

Where would you suggest I go to get a new one? Call glock?
 
I'd run it for a couple hundred more rounds, the spring may have just been improperly installed as opposed to defective. If it comes out again then contact glock for a replacement or just buy one, they only cost a few dollars and you'd get it in a week or two instead of the extended lead time most manufacturers seem to have.

That's impossible with Glock perfection and all :HR:

Remember that despite all the kool-aid ALL mass produced items can / will fail eventually whether it be 20 rounds or 20K rounds down the pipe.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

Guns break, thus the need for spare parts and gunsmiths.

I've seen this several times. Usually from the channel the Slide Lock Spring rides in being too narrow.

You didn't mention what the failure was, only it's effect. If parts were missing, your gunsmith had them on hand for a reason.

That is Funny. I bought a G30 and a G32 a few months ago on Gunbroker.

They have finally come through on the Import side. I should have them shortly.
 
Little update.

Spoke to glock in Georgia and their canadian rep.

They said the problem was likely caused by a improper installation on the assembly line.

Spoke to a master armorer for a large local muni police force in bc and he had the same opinion.

Took it back to the range and no further issues.
