Please for god's sake tell me there is a mag release out there for left handed users who want to use their thumb and not their trigger finger to release the magazine. I've shot CZ's for years, which are interchangable. Is there anything out there for the Glocks?

Glock's new generation (G4) of pistols has an reversible magazine release, but you need to modify the magazines on older model G3 mags.

However, if you already have a Glock, the new G4 part will not fit into older Glock models.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is really nice to hear. I just downloaded the Gen4 Adobe file from Glock's website. Should I decided to get back into shooting competitively, or just to have a good reliable handgun around for some fun range time with friends, at least there is an option out there for those of us to stubborn to learn how to drop a mag with our trigger finger.

Brownell's has a Glock mag release replacement part that lets you use your left thumb to drop the mag. It has a pivot mechanism to make it work.

I use my trigger finger to drop the mag myself.

I'll have to check current rule books, but I will assume without checking that making this change to a Glock would render it a non-production legal gun?

You (and Wendell) are correct about production not allowing the use of the Brownells release. I used a glock for years and think it is an advantage to use the trigger finger. If your trigger finger is dropping a mag there is no way it can be inside the trigger guard. I witnessed that save someone from getting DQ’d a few years ago at an IPSC Nationals. Just my opinion though; use what your comfortable with.

On the other hand, I've seen one guy go to use his trigger finger to press the mag release, and his finger slipped and hit the trigger by mistake. I think it was on a walther, though, not a Glock.
