Anybody else as excited as I am that Glock officially announced the G40, basically a 10mm 6" longslide?

Any clue as to when these should be available on the Canadian market ?

Interesting pistol. Called the MOS configuration ( Modular Optic System). Glock's first factory forray into handguns capable for mounting red dot sights.
It's a 15+1 in normal form and MSRP in the States is $700. Not sold with the optics. There's a plate cover with retaining screws just in front of the rear sight for the mount so the rear sight can stay in place. The guide rod must be recessed or standard length (?) as there's a hole where you expect the guide rod to protrude. Trigger is standard Glock weight and feel.

I'm always happy about more 10mm's on the market, but the G40 is definitely one of the ugliest Glock's I've seen, there's just something about the long slide that doesn't look right.

What's it going to be like finding a holster, is there a similar profile 45?

Love my G20, might upgrade to the 40..

Edit: should I keep my G20 mags?
There is a .45 ACP version called the G41. The G41 is 15mm shorter in OAL but has the same width as the G40. I think any open bottom holster that fits your G20 will work until a dedicated G40/41 holster is made. The width of the G20 and G40/41 are the same.
The G20 mags will be fine. The G40/41 does not look or feel longer in the grip than a G20.

How would you like to hunt pigs with a 10mm G40 like Gunny?

The 20 has a beefier slide than the 41. Do you know if the slide on the 40 is similar to the 20 or the 41?

The specs from Glock's own literature says the 20 and 41 and the G40 are all 32.5mm in width. I am guessing that is the overall width of the gun vs. the width of the slide itself. The Glock rep mentioned the G40 kicks like a mule and they may actually add more weight to the slide to tame recoil. They can't port it due to the slide design at the present time. The gun will be sold with 4 bases to accommodate the 4 most popular pistol reflex sights. C-more will be one of them, of course! This is the MOS version.
