I haven't had a chance to see them in person, but in most pictures I've noticed that the slide finish looks different when compare to each other. Can anyone comment on this? Do the gen 3 slides have a better finish? I am asking this because I am trying to decide on with version of the G19 I should buy. I would prefer the non finger grooved version (gen2), but if the finish is better/tougher on the gen3 then that is the route I'd rather take. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Hmm interesting! I swear when I see the slides on the gen2 they look as if they have a much duller finish compared to the glossy gen3 slide. But I guess it could be just the pics.

Yeah, I'm torn. I like the Gen 3 frame w/ finger grooves and rail. But I prefer the duller slide finish. And I think the earlier slides were more squarish? The new slides appear shinier than the actual plastic. Makes me ALMOST want to take some "armor-all" to the plastic frame to shine it up to an equal luster.

hey justin, some of the guys have shown pictures recently where they polished off the slide finish, and gave it a two tone look. pretty sharp.

i have a glock 19, with slide a bit of bald in places, and tried cold blue, which doesn't work to my dismay. i can live with the honest wear, but one day may sand and polish it down. i don't have a problem with the finger grooves but would rather not have that funny bottom hole/gap on the front strap of my glock 22 and need to dremel the sharp edge off that arch hole thing. regards.

Glock changed the phosphate finish in the 3rd gen glocks at the same time that they upgraded a number of parts (I believe). My G22 has a dull black finish but did not have the chamber loaded extractor. It is a D serial number G22. If you look around you will be able to find one.
