GLOCK Generation 4 Pistols
The new GLOCK model 17Gen 4 and 22Gen 4 Law Enforcement (LE) Pistols have arrived
and are available to individual purchasers who qualify for the GLOCK IOP-GSSF discount
program. Qualified purchasers must provide a copy of their Service Identification and
matching Canadian Firearms License “PAL”.
The new GLOCK Gen 4 Pistols have a reversible Magazine Catch that allows the owner
to reverse the Magazine Catch to the right side of the Pistol to accommodate Left Hand
Shooters wishing to use their Left Thumb to release the Magazine. When reversing the
Magazine Catch to the Right Side of the Pistol ONLY Generation 4 Magazines are
compatible.
The GLOCK Gen 4 Pistols are compatible with all versions of GLOCK Magazines as long as
the Magazines Catch remains in the factory default - left side of the frame.
All of our GLOCK LE Pistols arrive from GLOCK with High Capacity Magazines. High
Capacity Magazines are Prohibited Devices and may not be sold to individuals in Canada.
We are required to remove the High Capacity Magazines from the LE Pistol and notify the
Canadian Firearms Centre we have removed them from the Pistol and have the Firearm
description changed to indicate the specific firearm has a 10 shot specification. Once this task
is complete, the firearm is then able to be transferred to an individual.
Generation 4 Magazine Availability
GLOCK has not yet produced any 10 round Gen 4 Magazines. GLOCK has indicated
these are expected to go into production likely the end of May or April 2010. Once they
produce 10 Round Gen4 Magazines they will be initially supplied only with Commercial
Pistols. The US has states that limit Magazines capacity to 10 rounds. Commercial Gen4
Pistols with 10 Round Magazines will be shipped first to US States requiring 10 Round
Magazines. GLOCK will be shipping Commercial Gen4 Pistols with 10 Round Magazines to
Canada when they are available only after filling US orders. We estimate these commercial
Generation 4 Pistols to arrive in June or July 2010.
As the supply of additional 10 Round Gen4 Magazines becomes available; GLOCK will begin
to fill the back orders for additional Magazines. We also anticipate these could arrive in
June or July 2010.
Purchasing a Gen4 Pistol Now
IOP-GSSF qualified purchasers wishing to purchase a Gen4 Pistol prior to the availability of
10 Round Gen4 Magazines may do so with the clear understanding they will not receive Gen4
magazines with their Pistols. The 10 round Gen4 Magazines will be placed on back ordered.
We will be providing back ordered 10 round Gen4 Magazines to customers who purchase a
Gen4 Pistol before the 10 Round Gen4 Magazines are available. The backordered 10 round
Gen4 Magazines will be shipped as soon as they arrive in our office from GLOCK.
Purchasers can utilize older version Magazines they may have or can borrow Magazines from
a friend until their Gen4 Magazines arrive.
New Pre Gen4 Magazines can also be purchased when you place your order for your Gen4
Pistol at $39.95 each. Remember that that pre Gen4 style Magazines will NOT function in
your Gen4 Pistol if you reverse the Magazine catch to the right side of the Frame.
We are unable to substitute pre Gen4 Magazines in place of Gen4 Magazines.
