Couldnt really see the product in video, here is a quick photo.

Not a gimmick best thing you can buy for a Glock got one on my 19 and it cures all ills.

TDC, I would normally agree with you on this, however, adding the GFA to my 19 allows me to have exactly the same grip I use on every single other handgun I own, without getting rails cut into the top of my hands. I also makes the gun point exactly the same as my other handguns, much much quicker for me to find and focus on the front sight during the draw. So, if you have big hands, and get cut by the Glock a lot, which is a very well known issue around the globe, the GFA will make you very happy. They have a new smooth one now, which I'll probably get one of these days.

I see the merit for those who run into issues with slide bite. I don't see the perceived gain in performance. Fundamentals are fundamentals, apply them and the rest is moot. Add ons and the like are a crutch.

Is grip tape on a glock also a "crutch"?

It seems quite common among Glock shooters.

This add on seems to address an issue some have with glock grips... sort of like grip tape.

Although it's not something I consider crucial, anything that makes a gun perform better seems worthwhile to me. I know enough heavy shooters that believe in the GFA that I can only assume it's doing something for them.

If your split times drop, say, and it induces no malfunctions...it's an improvement.

I have said this a million times now but why won't Glock put out a "G17 Professional" with:

1) a Gen4 backstrap with a beavertail
2) Vickers mag release & slide stop
3) the cheapest possible sights that can be yanked and thrown away (this is one part Glock gets right on all their guns)
4) 4-6 mags

I guess probably the same reason that they don't offer Glocks without the finger grooves, hook on the trigger guard, or intelligently shaped trigger guard that doesn't make your right middle finger look like it belongs to Quasimodo...that probably being that their main source of income is institutional purchases for people who don't shoot very much.

But seriously, what would it cost to do a G17 Pro?

I never get any cuts on my hands. Im with TDC on this but to each their own.

I don't think that would bother any of the Glock guys I know...most of the Glock people I know shoot both Glocks and 1911s.

I assume they did not call it the "beavertail adapter" for the same reason Magpul did not name themselves "The Plastic Accessories for Guns Company" and Ford did not call the F-150 the "Large Vehicle with Limited Passenger Space and Large Exterior Space for Hauling Objects". It's a brand name. I doubt it has anything to do with 1911s, particularly since that part is known as a "beavertail" on many guns.

You've tried it, right?

I mean, surely you wouldn't dismiss a product as a "gimmick" unless you'd personally tried it, right?

Admittedly, I haven't shot a lot with one, couple mags worth and wasn't impressed. Adding sh*t that isn't stock/standard just screams crutch, especially when it comes to "feel". Grip tape I can take or leave, but it aids in control when shooting for extended periods of time due to sweat. Maybe I should give the GFA a longer trial. I'm not a fan of things bolting or hanging off my guns unless it adds significantly to performance without affecting reliability.
