Hello I have a Gen4 g17. It has been locking the slide back after every shot. I have tried all my mags all factory. Assembled and cleaned put back together correctly. Any suggestions on what the issue is or anyone know a good gunsmith for glocks in canada. Thanks

The slide stop lever spring was installed wrong by someone. a simple fix .
spring has to be under or over the locking pin .
cant remember which but if installed wrong
it puts upward presser on slide stop every time slide
opens .shoudl be u tube videos to fix it just need a punch to remove pins
You can probably fix it yourself

in addition to the comment on the slide stop, check to see if the spring is actually broken on the slide stop. when the slide is off, pull up on the stop, it should spring back down. if the spring is broken, it'll flop.

I was a Glock Armourer in my past life
My bet is Slide stop lever spring was installed wrong by
previous owner .
it can happen if not paying attention to spring position
when re assembling Glock Model 17
a simple fix

As per Paratrooper777, slide stop lever installed wrong.
First to go in is the upper smaller pin in the frame, then insert the slide stop lever with the spring under this upper pin, then line it up with the hole for the lager lower pin to go in fairly easy.
Flick it to see if you have spring tension on the slide stop lever. It should pop back into the little U detect in the frame.
Re install slide, insert empty mag, rack it, should lock open.
If you have snap caps now try racking them through a simulated firing cycle. It should work fine.

Correction the "Slide LOCK lever" spring likely installed wrong
take slide off pull up on lever it should always return to down position .
(should have a downward pressure)
if not spring installed wrong

My glocks are dirtier than that but my suggestion is disassemble clean reassemble and see of that works. Takes all of 5 minutes to do that.

I have gone as many as 7-8k rounds between cleaning but you never know. I run Gen 3’s so maybe gen 4 glocks are pickier on their cleaning cycle?

Have you taken your mags apart right before you started having this issue? If so make sure they are reassembled correctly. Spring and follower in the correct orientation?

My 2 pesos.

So now a mystery it looks like installed properly?
Its definitely installed correctly. Its not my first glock. Also this happened after a few thousand rounds. Loaded a mag then click she locks back every time after firing. Also after I drop the mag and try to rack the slide there is resistance almost like its snagging or binding

Thanks for the response. This one has anywhere feom 2500-3000 since last cleaning. I disassembled today and cleaned and lubed. Same issue. As for the mags there 8 all factory glock they have never been apart.

I think your only option is to try and find the source of the resistance binding or snagging.

Maybe take a look at the locking block, check to make sure it and / or the frame are not damaged and the pins are installed correctly.

If you are using an aftermarket recoil spring assembly maybe take a look at that to see if it looks damaged or is somehow out of spec.

Take a careful look at your factory recoil assembly and check for damage or deformation.

Sorry those are the only suggestions I have.
