Hey

So I have no idea who to go to for help so I’m posting the story on here in hopes someone can help me out or knows of who to contact.

I purchased a glock 17 in October. Got the gun home and started checking it out. Noticed two scratches on the slide. I immediately contacted glock us and asked for help. Within 12 hours I was contacted by someone who said they would help me out. This contact was so helpful and responded immediately to my emails within an hour. Once I was ready to ship the gun for repairs. I heard nothing so I emailed about once a week no reply. Finally I sent a frustrated email that I would try to get in contact with glock us again. The. Phone rings this dude claims he was so sorry and he would get on it that day.

Needless to say since then nothing has been done and this person is again unreachable by phone or email.

If anyone knows anyone who can help me please send me contact info.

Why wouldn't you have contacted the retailer? Glock USA has to direct you to the Canadian repair centre (Canward??? Rampart???). Good luck!

You want to contact Police Ordanance and they will repair your Glock. I brought my Glock there in person and picked it back up when they were done replacing my cracked lower. The armorer That i dealt with has now passed on so I don’t have a name for you but if you do a google search you can find all the info you need to contact them HTH’s

Thanks guys. The reason I didn’t go to the store was because I emailed glock USA and they contacted me right away. If I go back to the store now that it’s been over a month there is probably not much they can do!!!

Grab yourself a holster use the gun and it will have nice worn in look and you won't notice the scratch after you use it.

It's a glock not a colt python...kinda sucks when you buy it brand spanking new and if it's your first but in assuming you bought it to use it and not a collector gun so it won't be noticeable after a bit of use.

Lesson learned. When it comes to firearms don't bother trying to contact the US. Always try dealing with the retailer first and as a last resort the Canadian warranty/service depot. Firearms + Canada + Warranty/Service = Not going to happen (if it does it will take months if not years). That's why most Canadians have become "armourers" of their own firearms.

Post a pic of the scratches and let us have a look see...

Honestly scratches are not huge but they are noticeable to me.
And I wouldn't care if it was a used gun but I overpaid as I wanted to support my local store and now I am disappointed because all I see are the Scratches.(Don't know how to host a pic or whatever but one scratch is about the length of a pencil eraser, other half the size)

This is my second Glock the first I owned for 3 years used every time I went to the range, holstered and never had a scratch on it.

I'm curious how bad these scratches are I beat the crap out of my first g22 and it still looked like new.

Agreed. I said as much in my post. My 5 yr old G22 also looks new. Every time I think I scratched it, nothing shows.

I wouldn't be surprised if the gun in question is a new Gen4. The finish on mine is likewise quite delicate and easily scratched in comparison to say a Gen3. Previous to my current G17, I had a Gen3 with the "frying pan" finish. Now that was as tough as nails and very scratch proof. That's the finish I wish Glock had stuck with.

I have a Gen 2 and a Gen 3. The Gen 2 has a rough textured ( Tannifer?) finish which is now starting to wear after 30 years. The Gen 3 has the Teflon frying pan finish you speak of. It is definitely very hard and quite scratch resistant. However, I find it very slippery.

Are Gen 5 using the same finish as Gen 4?

Gen 5 have a new finish called nDLC. It is supposed to be tougher than the crap finish they put on the Gen 4 pistols. I have seen it in person and it is a much darker finish that the older ones, and seems to be tougher than the Gen 4 finish.

Tenifer is the metal treatment below the finish, as stated above. Then a surface finish is applied.

No you didn't overpay. You paid what you believe the gun was worth. No one who ever willingly paid for a product(and received said product) has ever been ripped off.
