Glock Kaboom vid

lol @ Glocks..
i've seen similar things happen 3 times in person,
and of course read and seen videos of countless others..

Glock: Perfection...

And I've been around hundreds of different Glocks being fired on range at various times & have never seen it happen. Plus, I have over 25,000 rounds thru a Glock 22 .40 cal with no fails to feed, fire, eject or extract. And magically no kabooms either... Go figure.

:D

Now that just ain't nice. Ruger's are a thing of beauty... :p

Further to what NAA said, I have a first Gen Glock 17 that as my first gun, I bought it new in 1990 and have since put well over 55,000 rounds of everything I could buy and reload through it, and still to this day, only 2 malfunctions both due to me. Not bad after 16 years and 55,000 rounds later.

I don't think it's a factor in anything but the .40 S&W models. That caliber is hi-pressure (notice the lack of +P ammunition in .40, because it "already is" +P for all intents and purposes).

This has been talked to death on may boards including glocktalk.com (where, surprisingly, most people say it's never the guns fault! :p )

I haven't had it happen in my model 22. Ron DID have it happen in his model 34 (look back a few posts).

IMHO it's due to ammunition (loaded to max or a little over, and using cases that have probably been fired more than once).

But the non-supported chamber SURE doesn't help any.

lets not get o na glock kick hear
glocks fail less then any other handgun made other the the HK USP, but thers not enough of them around to really test that out yet.
The glock is the most used handgun on the market today.
So lets drop the plastic is crap talk, you car is 90% plastic and pot metal and you bet you life on it everyday.
Glock is the only handgun id bet me life on.

+1

Great post... and that about sums it up. I love my 1911's & my wheelguns but I'd pick a Glock 22 .40 cal to defend my life over all the others any day of the week.

my bike is alluminium and carbon, and I bet my death on cars every day..

wait..what's my point...

umm.. nevermind.

ffs. glock this, beretta that, ruger the other thing.
It happens. lousy reloads or other factors.
I personally dislike glocks, but not because of the unreliablity. It's overall look and feel for me.
But you know what? if you need a gun to fire reliably, every single time and you had to bet your life on it, glock would fit the bill nicely.
cut the crap with the glock bashing.

This happens with all makes. I have personaly seen a .50 Barrett explode at a range in Flordia. The shooter was on the third round, pulled the trigger and kaboom. He had 2 rounds left in the mag, one went off, the mag blew to bits and the reciever was history as was the bore of the barrel. Speaking with my friend a few months later, he told me that even though this was the result of the guys reloads, Ronnie Barrett took the rifle back, and replaced it.

 What happened to the shooter?

I think if you put 10,000 high velocity lead bullet loads through a Glock without cleaning, it may well Kaboom - but then if you do the same with any other pistol you stand the same chance. For some strange reason everyone thinks they can "torture test" a Glock, then when it goes KB it's the gun's fault. If you treat a Glock like a gun it will last pretty much forever, if you treat it like a hammer it'll eventually bite you. Is anyone surprised by this?

the unsuported chamber in the .40 and combine that with lead reloads, weakend brass, max loads... its bound to happen. I don't see why they can't have the chamber like a 226 .40(I have one). Pritty much fully suported, yet will feed everything... including empty shells.
