Glock Mag Disassembly

:D I see the problem. You need to push the tool FURTHER INTO THE MAG, tipping the inner (locking) floorplate completely out of the way. If you're doing it properly, you should be able to push the entire steel rod on the armourer's tool all the way into the mag, then pop the floorplate off.

There are a couple of videos floating around showing exactly how easy this is to do, but this page from glockmeister shows the basics: http://glockmeister.com/magdis.shtml

The only way I can fit a tool farther into the mag would be to hammer it through the inner floorplate. It will not tip out of the way due to it's size and the ribs on the inside of the way. Tried that too.

Here's a quicktime video showing how fast and easy it is, and you don't need to cut anything off the mag body, you don't need to squeeze the mag body with anything, all you need is the "armourer's tool" or something similar.

I was doing it exactly like that. It does not come off that easy on this mag. The way the locking tabs on the mag side are designed, it will never come off that easy.

That's what I thought the first time I tried to do it the proper way too, but you're not going to hurt the mag; shove it all the way in at about a 45 degree angle to the mag body, then pop the floorplate off. The locking floorplate WILL tip out of the way, but (short of flying out to Alberta to physically SHOW you), I've got no other way to prove it to you.

Stevo:

I just did it. I ran the punch into the baseplate, and displaced the black plastic floorplate locking dooflicker will tilt forward and out of the way. Then I pulled the floorplate forward, but I squeezed the sides of the mag body with my (drum roll , please) M14 Flash suppressor nut pliers. Lickety split !! Yahooo!!

Hope this works for you.

Got my four new magazines in the mail from the glock store, along with the grip extensions for my pinkie...took me an hour as well to figure it out to put the grips on, and I've put then on without the reinforcer...I hope this won't cause any problems?
