Glock Magazine base pads

I found that using mousepad material cut to shape make great magazine base pads. Problem was the glue gave up and the base pad came off.
My pal Jack said he used that clear silicone in a tube to glue it on.
Tried it, but the Glock magazine bases are so shiny and uniform that the silicone glue didn't adhere.
The pads came off with a nice reverse impression of the base.
What is a better glue?

why are you doing this I dont understand.
The polymer is stronger than metal so what are you worried about mags dropping on the ground for ?

am I wrong ?
