What are the do's and dont's to a glock upkeep.

im in love with this thing and its only been 24 hrs.

Glock26 and not sure on the gen, its not on the slide

glad you like your Glock. I had a Gen 4 G17. Easy as pie to take apart and swap out parts. Parts for the pistol are dirt cheap also. Only shoot jacketed bullets out of the factory barrel though. Less is more with the Glock. There are maybe a couple of small surface areas of steel on steel to put a light drop of oil on. You DO NOT need to lube the gun like a 1911. There are vids aplenty on youtube on care for it, but I followed Hickok45's mtc for it. Enjoy your new toy!

After shooting, field strip and spray down with G96, wipe down frame/slide and swab out barrel. After 5-7000 rounds, replace recoil spring. After 10,000 rounds replace mag followers and springs. If you do this, you will never have an issue with your Glock that isn't related to ammunition quality. This is a very conservative maintenance plan, and the gun will function with less care, but this will ensure that the gun functions 100%.

Why compare a Glock to a 1911 with a big DO NOT ? those instructions above are exactly what I do with my 1911, it only need 2-3 light drop of oil.
