I've been dry firing mine recently;

I noticed that when the gun's not cocked, if I point the muzzle to the floor and shake it up and down there sounds like something metallic is moving inside. I don't hear it when it's cocked.

Is this normal?

When the striker isn't under tension (after trigger has been pulled, and not reset), it will move back and forth in the striker channel... if it didn't make that sound, then the striker isn't moving freely in the channel, and that would be a problem...

We're doing this all wrong... It's on it's way out... chronic dry fire syndrome... I'll take it as a parts gun... I'll give you $25 and a shamwow- thats like $300 in paper towels I'll save you...;)

Wow 5440fight, what a deal! They always said don't dry fire it - now I know better; I take EMT... jk

Thanks for the responses though.

Welcome to Glock, population: you... and everyone. :)

If the top end rattles a bit even when cocked on a well used one, I've found a full mag makes that jingle go away (pressure up obviously pushing on the slide).

Yup. For a more permanent fix you can peen the slide to get it to sit nice and tight without the full mag. Makes for a more positive trigger as well as it takes the movement out...

You will never get rid of the striker rattle though. As stormtrooper points out worry when it doesn't do it. That would mean the striker is jammed and if it is in the forward position you could get a slamfire.

Firing pin safety fonction check

Make sure there is no magazine inserted and no round in the chamber. Pull the trigger rearward all the way. While keeping pressure on the trigger shake the gun front to rear. Firing pin should be heard moving freely back and forth. If you don't hear the pin, don't fire the gun again until it has been checked by a competant GLOCK armorer.

Funny...at times like this, when it counts, I do not hear a rattle....More of a bang.

Glock costs about $75 to make. The gun is so loose, you can stick a credit card in the gap between the slide and frame. It would be unusual if it didn't rattle.
