I have a G17 and I'm trying to get it ready for production class of ipsc so I can only do minor mods but one I saw at the range was the trigger and trigger pull. I want to make the trigger smooth and back the pull down to 5lb. I want to remove that squishy feeling in the factory glock trigger. I was also wondering if I can change the recoil spring so racking of the slide is a little easier? anyone know what the stock weight of the recoil spring for g17's are? The last thing is a 1mm sight ?

Also if anyone knows a good place to get these parts locally BC/Canada or even the US if these parts can be shipped legally? not sure.

3.5 disconnecter, 5lb NY trigger spring & a polish will smooth the trigger, I wouldnt reccomend dropping the recoil spring to make racking easier, I would add grip tape & shoot the gun more to loosen it up!

The $0.25 trigger job should be a pretty easy DIY project. You won't be able to remove enough metal with just Autosol to get yourself in trouble, unlike stoning. Besides which, it's a good idea to learn how to detail strip your gun.

Just make sure you do a function check to make sure you put it back together correctly.

I go one step further, I cut the coils in the 5lb NY Trigger Spring so that in the normal "semi-cocked" state the spring is "just touching"; I want the spring to ensure that only on compression it is "sprung". Hope that makes sense.

I love this setup on a Glock. It's as good as it gets on the cheap and is really quite nice :)

You guys are making me want a Glock again ;)

what about something like this http://glockparts.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=6884 and a polish of the rubbing metal parts?

I also see this kit http://glockparts.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=6992 this second kit does not come with a "competition Trigger spring" but comes with a 5lb striker spring

2 questions there:

what kind of effect is gained from the striker spring being 4lb? (not sure if this is lighter or hevier than the oem spring)

The comp trigger spring in kit 1 has no specs I;m assuming this would be lighter than the oem one but I need to make sure it's at least 5lb for ipsc so if anyone knows what kit 1 will yield with a polish?

I see people also keep mentioning the N.Y. 1 trigger spring where can I get that one? I see glockparts had it in 8lb and 12lb but I need 5lb

Wizzardsl:

I wouldn't mess with striker spring (weaker spring = lighter pull), since a Glock's trigger actually moves the striker rearward. The chance of light primer strikes is enhanced with a weaker striker spring.

You are correct, Orange and Green are NY springs; 8# and 12#. Perhaps no spring is 5# :) I wasn't paying attention to the numbers, I just knows what I likes.
