Glock or BHP??

I had my mind almost made up to get a Glock from Police Ord. but then a BHP came along. I know where I can get a pretty good deal on a used BHP Practical 9mm in very good condition. Anybody who knows me knows that I am an indecisive SOB and can never make up my mind on anything. What would you do? A brand new Glock 17 OD, or a used BHP? Prices realitively close.
 
I have both, I love the look of the BHP practical .40 (makes for a ###y gun), the G17 is a beast in comparison. I sold other pistols but never these two, so I am at a loss to make a suggestion. Both function great but I shoot the G17 more.
 
What do you want to use it for, and have you ever fired either design before? I've owned both, and liked them both for their own purposes, but I've got a lot of meat on my hands and no matter what I did, the HP would bite me every time (at least until I got a Kydex beavertail; http://www.comkydex.com/Customapps.html ) For IPSC use, unless you like being scored Minor, Glock is the way to go, and overall, I prefer the Glock (once you get used to the trigger)
 
I just plan on target shooting with it...no IPSC round here. I have not shot either style of handgun. I owned a 1911 up untill a month ago and loved it. I am sortta leaning towards the glock, cause I will eventually end up buying one anyways. Plus if I get the glock I will feel the need to buy another 'nicer' looking gun.

I absolutely adore the Browning Hi Power design, but the G17 is a real winner.

I think if it were me; I'd buy the Glock first - then get a BHP later. :)

I own a Glock and not a BHP but if it were me I'd be tempted to go for the BHP if it's a good deal. New G17's aren't that hard to come by but a good deal is hard to pass up. FWIW, depending on the type of target shooting you're planning the BHP Tac might be better anyway...I've found Glocks are at their best fast and close (20m and in)...not as much further back.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand the current pricing at Police Ordnance for the Glocks is lower than it usually is by way of a reduction direct from Glock......
My O.D. G17 came with night sights, 4 mags, shipped, and taxed for under $790 -Less than the sticker price from dealers on here.

You can always pay retail for a new BHP, or look for a smokin' deal on a used one later on.
 
The factory barrels on BHP's are very accurate. If you can get a good trigger on it it would likely be more inherently accurate than the Glock. Go with the one that fits your hand the best.

Glocks likely would last longer than the BHP though
 
I had a BHP a long time ago , great gun . Shot a few g17's and am Waiting for the CFC to finish a transfer on a G22 .
Personally I prefer a Glock ( or 1911 ) over a BHP .
If you are not planning on any IPSC style shooting then buy what ever fits you best . If IPSC style shooting is in your future go Glock .
 
I'd say Hi Power. I shoot one weekly, and competed in our local action league this summer with it. I never felt like I was shortchanged. There's so much to like. Points naturally, all steel, and more accurate than I am. I'll never sell my Hi Power.
 
One of the major complaints with a Glock is there is no way to change the grip size. The BHP can be fitted with a wide variety of grips. They are both good guns, the Glock has a weight advantage for carrying and the benefit of 50+ years of technology. The BHP is also single action, which is not a problem for some. The biggest disadvantage of the BHP is the mag disconnect.

I was in the same predicament, I had both and love them both equally. I ended up selling the BHP MKIII and kept my G17 2nd generation. The Glock was slightly more accurate, makes a great range gun (as does the Browning) and because I sometimes participate in IPSC, it was the obvious choice for me. Tough decision, as I find these to be my favorite 9's.
