I am buying a 45ACP. I am not using it for competition or anything like that. I just want a good reliable easy to deal with pistol.

I would like your view. GLOCK or SA.....both are near the same price.

GLOCK seems pretty indestructable which appeals to me.
SA gets lots of good reviews too.

I need to hear pro's and con's from those of you who know.

Thanks

If you ever have any problem with a Glock pistol you can:
1-Pretty much fix it by yourself, and
2-Buy part for cheap, anywhere.

I can't say for the XD because i do not had any experience with this gun.

Since it's for a reliable, easy to deal with pistol then the Glock has to be the choice simply due to it's track record. If you were looking more for visual appeal maybe the XD would be a better choice. In my opinion the XD hasn't been around long enough to be chosen for your reasons.

It's not really that simple of an answer. there are a few advantages and drawbacks to both pistols.

.45acp Glocks are not the marvel their 9mm brothers are! You ARE going to encounter reliability issues. I know guys down south who'll swear by 9mm Glocks all day, but if you're tallking .45 they won't touch a Glock. That said, when something breaks, parts are ALOT easier to find than the XD, and you can easily perform most repairs yourself.

The XD is the opposite of the Glock in mary respects. Chambered in .45acp, it's a very reliable pistol especially considering it's price. A couple of my buddies have each put 1500+ rounds through their XD .45's over a couple of days, several times, no issues. The problem with the XD is, if you ever do have any issues, you're going to have a .45 paperweight for a while. Parts are notoriously hard to get.

So, it depends what your preference is. Would you rather have likely problems that are easily fixed, or a pistol that's much less likely to break but a pain in the a$$ when it does?

yes it is the XD I was looking at.

And based on the replies, it will be a GLOCK that I buy. And enough spare parts for it to last 3 lifetimes....

Thanks guys. Much appreciate it.

I'd go for an XD because of chamber support alone. I hate flogging the dead horse, but loose chambers with poor support at the six o'clock position really make me nervous. As you can see from the pick below, XD's chamber is about as supported as they come.

I hate Glock so much, that I think I am going to buy one.
This gun is becoming an icon of guns and also how guns shouldn't
be build, however it is cheap, reliable gun and easy to fix if it breaks.
Gun is cheap, parts are cheap and gun works, what else we need :)

Did you consider Ruger at all? I hear they are pretty good in .45.
Personally, if I had to get a .45 I'd go with 1911.
If the only two choices are Glock and XD, I'd go with XD.
