I'm thinking my next purchase will be a 45ACP pistol. In terms of reliability, am I better off with a Glock or M&P? Since most people go with a 1911 in a 45 I haven't head much regarding this caliber in a poly frame pistol.

I haven't owned the M&P but have shot it. I own the Glock in .45 and use it for IDPA. I love it. You just know it's going to go bang everytime. You have 10 round mags, it's very accurate with low recoil for a .45 and you can get all kinds of accessories if you want them. If you were just picking between the M&P and the Glock I would pick the Glock. But that's just me. When someone asks which gun is better it's really up to the buyer to try them all out first and decide. Many people don't like the G21, many people don't like my Ruger P345 but I love it. So many good guns out there right now, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Go somewhere where you can handle both. The M&P tends to fit people with average to small hands, the Glock tends to fit larger hands or people who can handle a long trigger reach. If you can't get you hands on an M&P 45 locally, handle the 9 or 40 - the grip is almost identical across all 3 calibres. Personally, I love my M&P's so you know what I'd recomend.
