Hi everybody's,
I have a couples of questions for you IPSC guru's. I wish to take my Black Badge in a near future and want to know if my G17 will be legal in the production class. I have put extended controls (GLOCK guenuine parts) and change the Trigger bar and firing pin safety springs for reduced ones and change the stock disconnector for a Ghost 3.5Lbs. That set-up give me a 4 lbs trigger pull. I am still OK with this for production?

Also, is the G34 is OK in production? What appened with a G19 with a plain restricted 106mm Wolf or Storm Lake berrel. I am in the impression that an aftermarket barrel will put me in open class.

Glock approved list

17, 19, 20, 21, 21SF, 22, 23, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 36, 37, 38, 39

Also approved are variants with original Glock barrels which are longer than standard (e.g. 17A, 17DK), as well as variants with "Tactical", "Mariner" or similar OFM engravings on the slide, provided the barrel length does not exceed 127mm, and provided all other aspects of these variants fully comply with all other Production Division rules.

Not Approved:
18, 24, 25, 28, 34, 35, L and C models


In my opinion. I am far from a guru the modifications stated will put you into standard class. I would not sweat it strating out. Shooting minor in open will be the least of your problems. If your your just taking the black badge course your focus should be on having fun and shooting safe and not getting disqualified.
 
As i understand it, the 4lbs trigger pull is too light for production. I can still put the standard spring and keep the Ghost disconnector, this will give me a trigger pull around 5Lbs making my G17 production legal.
 
Ghost disconnector would be an illegal modification for production division... you must go back to Glock factory parts...(so you could put in a Glock 3.5 lb disconnector and should be good to go with the trigger weight, as I hear that it will break just over 5 lbs with that disconnector)

As for the aftermarket barrel... that would also be no good for production division. (consider standard division)
 
glocks are a great starting pistol when getting into IPSC. i shoot a G22 there with no problems, i love it.

in my limited experience with IPSC so far, ive never had anyone check my gun or inspect it in anyway (in level 1s and 2s), but im also using it straight out of the box with no mods. From my understanding, putting Glock parts in is fine, but ull be immediately pointed out for aftermarket barrels. Disconnects are the same story because the first pull has to be a 5lb pull (which wont change with you using a glock on subsequent shots, like a SA would).

but as has been said below, just worry bout the course for now and getting through that. you can ask the instructor anything and learn a LOT about the sport and its rules over the course of the weekend...along with putting hundreds of rounds downrange :D:D

I am getting Glock 22 for my daughter, she is interested with shooting IPSC.
Need to know what IPSC legal modifications helped you?

Here is a list of parts I have ordered?
- Kytac Holster
- Sevigny Competition Sight
- Gorilla Grips, aggressive grips
- Glock GM trigger spring
- Glock OEM extended mag release
- Glock 3.5lbs connector

What do you think?
Also, what is best PF for Glock 22?
 
I'm in the same boat as FAQMAT, but am also wondering about grip tape...I think there is some rules regarding how much can be used, but I'm not certain.
 
Thanks Quigley, I was worried if I ever shot IPSC I'd have to strip off my grip tape, but it falls within the parameters specified by that appendix.

FAQMAT just show up to the black badge course with your prefered glock
then do the course , enjoy and be safe .
then shoot your 2 match without been DQ
and then have some more fun and be safe

then if a rule book NAZI come to you and want to check your glock , tell him to go f$%k off , and try to enjoy our sports and be safe

you can put whatever you like in level 2 match inside the gun only in level 3 you need to check the trigger pull and chrony your ammo

as long as your gun lift the 5 pound weight off the table and your ammo goes 125 PF you are good to go in canada (115 gr x 1088 )(124gr x 1010)(147gr x851)

In level 5 they might check your gun but i doubt you will go there next year

for those who complains about connector and trigger job on guns worth less than 1000 you might be shooting those 2200$ so called production gun like tanfoglio or SIG

the only PD rule than would be fair is no gun should cost above 1500$

FAQMAT , as an IPSC black badge instrutor i just advise you , you only need to have fun be safe , shoot whatever you like and enjoy .......:popCorn:

must be 5 inch or less

too bad that would be a great gun against tanfoglio UN_STOCK 14 and Cz 75 must be under the SHADOW

####, I bought it thinking it would be ok for IPSC as well as IDPA. I'm really more focused on IDPA and I'm sure it's ok for that. But still, F#ck! Oh well, guess I'll just have to go out a buy a les baer to be compliant. Wouldn't want to break the rules or anything. I mean, so what if the furnace kicks out in January. She'll understand : )

Look who is talking:jerkit:! The guy who owns the CZ Shadow with the most tuned trigger I have ever seen! You even are one if not the first to have shot an SP-01 in IPSC in Canada so you started it! Now live with the consequences! Don't spit on the player man, spit on the game.:owned:

glock 34

you could shoot in standard minor ,a couple of guys at my club do that just for fun and just shooting

don't buy Les Baer.....Buy a Glock 17 you will be compliant for production add the warren tactical sevegny sight plus do the .25 cents trigger job on youtube
you can even switch some part of your 34 into the 17 like mag release and connector to have a better trigger

IPSC and Les Baer dosen't rhyme-----IPSC and STI goes along if you want a great gun out of the factory ask Freedom Ventures----(free advertising here)

top choices these days are production ---CZ sp-01 shadow---Tanfoglio---glock 17

standard-----STI edge -----Tanfoglio Limited custom II-----SVI (if you can afford it

open -----STI Trubor or match master------Tanfoglio Eric gold(i would sell my soul for this gun) and SVI (in open ,really expensive but it's like a piece of jewelry)

To start out in IPSC just shoot what you have , it will sure fit somewhere in some division (ok if you have a makarov or tokarev buy something else)
as long as it shoots 9mmx19
you will see what people use and it's a real nice place to feel and try different gun just ask people they will give you a tour of their gun in the safe area

My point on that thread is to let people come to IPSC with what ever they have and just shoot the sport even if it's a glock or else.....do i say one gun is better than the other...not really it will be better in some hands and bad in others .........like Gunnar Christensen told me one day (back in the 2005 nat'l)(drunk guy memory) it's the shooter that makes the gun not the gun who makes the shooter.....sorry for spelling

Hi Phil,

I was just kidding about the les baer, hence the furnace joke. I think I'd rather be warm. I already have a sufficient amount of toys, including a Glock 17 : )
