Glock Safety Lock

I have a question about Glock Safety Lock; the one that is located in the back of the pistol Grip and uses dimpled keys to lock the firearm. Does this come standard with all Glock 17 gen 4 pistols, or is it an add-on option?

Either an add on or factory option. I've never seen it and have owned many Glocks.

Wouldn't want it in any way either. What's the point?

It's a factory orderable option only. I've never seen one and why would anyone want one.

The only benefit is that you can get a matching locked case. But since most don't store or transport their Glocks in the factory case, it's kind of lost... I'd rather have a grip plug to keep any debris/crap out anyway. For an internal safety one can always go with an Omega (lock inserts in the chamber and locks through the barrel).

Hey SS, welcome to the board.

It is a special order item, and there is no guarantee one could obtain such an item in a reasonable time-frame in Canada. A buddy of mine wants to get one, and his research has shown most American's hate it. In terms of the Canadian experience, if you do obtain the lock and want to use it as your trigger lock when transporting, I suggest you get approval from the RCMP in writing, lest you find yourself in the Greybar hotel during a traffic stop.

Personally, I think the lock is a solution looking for a problem.
