I see a lot of complaints about the cheap plastic Glock sights.
On some of my Glocks I have installed a narrow Dawson fibre optic front sight. I like narrow, because it gives me more space in the rear notch to see. I have very old eyes, and still waiting for cataract surgery. Changing the front sight also allows me to order the correct height so the pistol shoots to my point of aim.
On others, I have gone cheap.
I put a dot of fluorescent paint on the white front sight dot.
The rear sight has a white outline. I don't like this feature, so I turn the sight around. The nice thing about that plastic rear sight is that it pushes out and in easily.
I thin take a standard size bastard file and open up the rear notch to 20 thou. This is wide. It allows for very fast sight acquisition and with so much white on each side, it is easy to centre the front sight. I also cut the rear sight notch a bit deeper, so I can see more of the front sight.
This costs nothing to do and makes (for me) the stock sights perfectly usable.
I have found that many Glocks shoot way too high or low with the stock sights. Since so many Glock owners change their stock sights over to after-market sights, new sights can be bought on Ebay for about $8.00 Just order the correct height for the change you want to make.
