So I want to switch out the sites on my gen 4 22. I was thinking about night sites but I was looking at a set of fiber optics I didn't mind, what do people think? Night sites or fibers?

I have night sights and firbre optics..

Tritium sights:

- cant see them in daytime, only the white ring around them
- night time or dark, they work great.. but how oftern do any of us shoot shoot in low enough lighting for them to be seen ?
- more costly then fibre optics

Fibre optics - red front/green rear or green front/yellow rear options..

- really stands out for quick acquisition and aiming in most lighting, indoor and outdoor and a still a little if some light around
- can't see it in no lighting..negative, but again, we don't shoot guns in the dark..
- less costly then tritium sights and many brands out there to chose from...

I almost ordered new set tritium sights for my Glock when my gunsmith reminded me of how often, if ever will I shoot in dark to be worth buying night sights ? ? ?

But, another option, which I'm considering, fibre in front for everyday better use, and tritium for rear, so in somewhat low light scenario (maybe indoor match with low lights for a stage) you're still able to see fibre enough and your rear will glow up a little for balance to line up your sights...

and some fibre optics claim to have natural glow even in low light..

And also nothing wrong with buying tritium, just because you like them, but they will NOT do anything special for you at all in every day shooting than regular white painted posts...
If you have ccw for u.s. states and may need in night time mugging, then bonus to have tritium

Something to consider.

I picked up a set of Trijicon Night Sights at Target Sports installed for $100 +HST. Sure they don't glow during the day but I don't line up dots anyways.
Quality product...obviously more robust than the factory polymer ones.

Personally, I prefer tritium over fiber.

As an aside, does anybody make the "ball in the cup" sight with tritium (for night shooting)? Glock doesn't seem to offer them, and I find the "ball in the cup" sight much faster to pick up than the i-dot or 3 dot.

My choice is a Burris Fastfire II red dot.

Not only does it allow me shoot better it is also a CONSTANT training tool.
Every single one of my faults or tendencies is constantly on display......all the time.

It has been the single biggest factor in developing my pistol skills.
I wouldn't run one without it now.

Trijicon HD's are their version of the "ball in the cup". See their website...

Order "Heine" sights through the Brownells special order desk. Well worth the wait.

I use tritiums on my G17, which I like infinitely more than any FO sights I've ever used. I really like XS big dots for target acquisition speed in low-light. I know they're kinda 1986ish, but have yet to find anything that works better.

They're all still 3 dot. Maybe having a cup isn't do-able with tritium.

Closest thing you'll find to cup and ball is probably XS big dots. Personally I find the XS to be the fastest sight I've ever used. I will say that if you haven't got a firm grasp of the fundamentals or are concerned with tiny tiny groups, these sights aren't the best choice. I can shoot a single ragged hole at 7 yards with mine when I take my time, but these sights were never designed or intended for precision use. They're designed for high speed and high stress shooting.

I use Trijicon night sites on all four of my Glocks, I like them compared to anything else on the market.

I see I'm in exalted company recommending the same. I have scored all mine on the EE so I don't have a good source. Even converted my AA .22 to maintain the sight picture. Great sights.

Too bad it is a 22. I think I have a set somewhere for the large frame Glock... I'd have hooked you up cheap. Sorry.

our indoor range is poorly lighted ahead of the 20yd line and rankly I would not own a handgun without night sights for just this reason and the benefits of nightsights have been proven to me time and time again.
