Glock slide lock or magazine problem...

Hi glock gurus!

An issue I've had with my glock is that sometimes the slide lock will engage when the mag is empty and sometimes it doesn't. I'd say that 30% of the time it does. The other 70% the slide just remains forward when the mag is empty. I've tried tracking the mags to see if it's a mag issue but it happens (or doesn't) with all of them. When I put an empty mag in and rack the slide it, the lock engages...frustrating!

1) what could the problem be? I think it's more slide lock than mag...

2) how can I check if the issue is resolved without making a trip to the range?

You may inadvertently be holding the slide lock down when shooting.

I had the same problem until I changed my grip. Your thumb is prob riding on the slide lock.

I'm guessing you are used to 1911s?

Your Glock is ok..... Check your right thumb. Try to avoid pushing on the slide release while shooting.

You are not the first one with this problem.

I ride the slide lock on my Glocks and even my GI 1911! But the 1911 bites you if you hold it too high.

I modified my grip so that my offending thumb now rests on the thumb knuckle of the other hand.
