Hey everyone.. just got back from the range a couple hours ago. I shot 200 rounds through my Glock 17 and 3 times the slide did not lock back when the mag was out of ammo. Just wondering what the cause of this is? My guess it's something to do with the magazine.. Thanks in advanced, Brian

You're more than likely gripping too high causing the magazine catch to stay down/depressed after the last round has fired.

Check your grip and make sure you're not touching that slide release.

No problem! I'm glad I could help. How are you liking the model 17? Is it your first handgun? I think you'll love the plethora of accessories available for your pistol. I personally recommend either a .22lr conversion kit or one of the internal guide rod lasers, they're both expensive but very cool, bring a new life to your pistol.

It's my first gun and I'm in love with it! I've ordered a 3.5lb connector and a NY1 trigger spring.. hopefully they'll arrive this week. I was thinking about one of those Crimson Trace grips but I dont think it would fit with my Hogue grip on, so maybe i'll look into the guide rod laser. I'm pretty sure i'll invest into a .22lr kit eventually since i'll be able to get alot more practice in by shooting .22.
The next gun I'm thinking about getting is a Sig or USP in .45... or maybe a P7M8.. then again maybe I want a CX4 Storm.. or one of those nice AR15's... OH GAWD the addiction has begun:runaway:

I'd steer clear of lasers. Nothing but a waste of a lot of good ammo money. Fragile, expensive, and they do nothing to improve your shooting skills.

Does Beretta still make CX4 Storm's? In regards to the guide rod laser, they're a lot of fun, the lasermax one's aren't fragile but I would only recommend getting one if the price is right (less than $200).

Be aware that the 3.5lb connector does not work with the Advantage arms conversin kit.

Are you sure about this? My friend has a G17 with a 3.5lb connector and an AA kit and he's had absolutely no issues.....

I was pretty sure that this was witten somewhere in the manual or on the web site of AA, but now i can't find it anywhere. It sure do not work with my G17 with a LWD 3.5 disconnector, but i'm no gunsmith. I was not able to rack the slide fully backward and then i reinstall the stock disconnector and it work! Maybe it depends of the disconnector brand, i don't know.

It works just fine actually. They just say alterations to the stock pistol may cause functioning problems.
Mine had a 3.5lb connector, aluminum trigger, and an overtravel stop. Never a single problem.
