looking to upgrade my glock 17 gen 4 sights.
im taking my black badge course in a couple months.

what sights do you recommend and where can i find them? (links??)
right now ive got the el-cheapo plastic ones.

im not a pistol rookie, but ive never upgraded sights, all my other ones came with night sights or other metal ones.

ive been thinking fiber optic or something like the shadows sights.

Personally, I like the Trijicons - highly visible in ANY light, rapid sight picture acquisition (line up the three bright dots). These are standard on most police department's Glocks, for good reason (I carried a Glock 22 with Trijicons for several years, and really liked them).

As for where to get 'em, Wanstalls, GP TActical, Wolverine Supplies (all CGN sponsors, above) are among many places that carry them. You do have to shop around - prices vary somewhat...

I use Warren Sights tactical with one dot up front and rear with no tritium. I saw many guys do that as well as covering either tritium or just white dots on the sights.

im looking at the warren ones now.
but i thought i saw something similar that had 1 dot for the rear. i want a plain-er rear sight, just a solo dot.

for IPSC the most common and IMO best because it is the least busy is the plain rear and fibre optic front. several different people make this setup but so far the best FO sights ive seen come from dawson. Which I believe brownells will ship to canada

^ this, reason being in IPSC you aren't shooting bullseye and speed is half the equation. its far easier and much quicker to pickup the front sight with blacked out rear than having to line 3 dots. another plus for this config is that you can keep your focus on the front sight without anything to distract you in the rear - this is important cuz the speed of your second shot (assuming you care to be accurate) depends on how quickly you pickup the front as it comes back down.

I have Warren or seveigny, one of them .....I can't imagine shooting without them...I have a tiny fo front sight.

I Shot my other glock the other week with meprolight night sights and my accuracy and speed was worse

ok, plain rear and fiber front. i like the green better than red.

how do i know which height to get? ive seen some that have measurements in the sights? i dont need them to change my point of aim.

I recently just got a G17 and thought the sights were okay. I heard everyone rave above about blacked out rears so all I did was sharpie marker the rear white. Yup, definitely faster for my eyes as I noticed my time to fire decreased. The next problem was the front sight was far too wide for my liking. So with all this knowledge I did like other here have suggested. I went to the Warren Tactical FO from and blacked out rear U notch sights. They were easy enough to install myself (Glock front sight tool and brass punch). So far I like them, and we will see how I progress with them.
