I find the mag release on my gen 4 glock 35 quite stiff. Has anyone tried bending the magazine catch spring or any other mod to overcome this?

Enefgee it is an extended release
Trinimon I think you're confusing what I'm saying with taking the slide
Skoal though you may be right......

I went ahead and removed the mag release and mag release catch spring. I put a slight bend in the spring (its really just a straight piece of wire like a straightened paperclip) and reinserted it. I oriented it so the bend is facing in the direction that it will be pushed.

Its golden. Worked fine. I ordered a new one ahead of time just in case I ruined it but looks like it'll just be a spare.

Wont work to change a mag

Op mine is stiff too, they do break in eventually I think since my old glock was easy

LOL, my bad. Dunno why I read slide release into that. Brain fart kinda day.

Yup, my Glock's mag release is pretty stiff as well. Nice tip there Grom, I might have to try that.

There is also a lighter version available.

I had the same issue, Glock Canada shipped me a new spring and mag release.

Fixed!

it will loosen up overtime but not much.
also, check that there a no burrs around the edges of the mag release, inside the mag well. It there are burrs even a little one, you will have to push the button further to clear that out of the way in order to let the mag out.
sometimes these deform during installation (while trying to push the catch spring into the gap). If you had rough installation, then check for any rough edges.

There is a way to install these with minimum effort and it all requires a metal pick, like the dentists use. if you use a screw driver it will most likely slip and make a dent somewhere inside the mag well (most likely in the V shaped gap for the catch spring). It is the 1911 stupid scratch but for Glocks, lol.
