Hey all;
Glock has made several changes to their pistols throughout the years,
gen1, gen,2 and now gen3 (and 3.5).
Myself, and I'm sure others aswell who aren't totally clear on this line of
pistols upgrages(specifically) would like to know what they were/are and why?

I had a chance to compare a gen2 frame to a gen3 frame, and there was a noticable difference with respect to the internals of the two 9mm recievers.
What brought these changes on?
Thx.

Great question.
Can anyone simplify what the changes are for each generation and the years they affect.
I've got a 19 and I've got to find out the year.
THanks,

Glock needs a Decocker i heard from a guy at Ellwood Epps (Orilia, Ontario) that there one coming soon or something like that. Until there isnt a decocker im not buying, not safe enough.

PS did I write "decocker" right?

You can't fire a Glock unless it's cocked, the only way to #### it is to rack the slide back about a 1/4-1/2 an inch. No very conductive to rapidly engaging a target.

I see no use for a decocker on a Glock, the way it's designed, it doesn't make any sense to have a decocker. Besides, the best safety is your finger, keep it off the trigger and the gun won't fire.

Exactly Glocks are not double action,a decocker would serve no purpose except to totally disable it. Makes you wonder why they are allowed in Production in IPSC,not being double action and all :).

Maybe they allow Glocks because they are THE production/service pistol used by police and many military forces around the world? :p

THanks,

Go over to GlockTalk: Glock Talk > Main Room > General Glocking > Glock-Related Valuable Info Threads>Glock Serial Number Research Project

That thread has almost an exhaustive list of all the serial number prefixes and their date of manufacture. It told me I have a 1993 G21....Plenty more info on the generational differences on the site too.

wow just think..as long as you dont pull the trigger youll be ok..

Here are some visual differences - notice the grip changes between the years. The third gen models received an accessory rail as well.

My 2nd gen Glock 17 only has two pins through the receiver and the newer ones have three. Besides the visual differences and the extra pin, I'm not sure what other differences there might be.

Please tell us about your 'unsafe' Glock shooting experience......

Kind of like those dangerous revolvers?

As with any gun, keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot and you can't go wrong.

I always wondered why Brownell's carried these...

Glocks

I've used the glocks but they lack true evolution of pistols coming to market. For a company looking for firearms for their employes there is a lack for full ambi controls. I like glock for I am right handed, but try an hk p2000 if you have the opportunity. You slap in the mag and the slide falls forward!

No the correct answer it YOU are not safe enough to own a Glock.

If you cannot keep your index finger off the trigger until you are ON TARGET you frankly should not have ANY handgun at all.

Or...

Perhaps I should add a decocker to my GP100 Revolver. Due to its UNSAFE deisgn if I pull the trigger it goes off just like my 13 year old son or 16 year old daughters Glock.............but then again THEY ARE SAFE SHOOTERS!

Edit............I guess I should have continued reading instead of piling on!! LOL!!

If you want to be convinced to shoot a Glock.......TRY ONE!

Decockers are too noisy LOL, the Glock is fine the way it is.
