Hey guys just got my first restricted a Glock 17 . While it was field stripped I had manually reset the trigger assembly a few times. (pushing on the bar and the trigger) I have seen on-line it can cause damage? Can damage happen after a few times or do over and over. I just want to make sure I have not already done any. Thanks. While I wouldn't make it a frequent habit, no harm will come from a few times.

Cycling the action on disassembled guns is usually not recommended unless stated to do so by the mfg. 1911's can be damaged fairly quick by not assisting the hammer down while apart.

If I'm understanding what you're doing....it's actually suggested before attaching the slide (gen4 G21) onto the frame. I don't know about the other gen4's but I think its got something to do with the new design of the trigger bar "bump" that "guides" it over the safety plunger.

I was trying to work in the drop of oil. I read that it can damage the pistol. I am curious on how it causes damage. Thanks for the replies guys.

It can't cause any damage on a Glock, no part is stressed. Beware of what you read on the Internet, especially about guns.

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought a Glock because I heard they are easy to maintain and tough. I have to admit though it feels kind of cheap. Next I'll buy a revolver or 1911.

Ok just making sure I had seen videos saying it is bad practice. I really expected my Glock to feel ''tougher'' then it does. I like how simple it is though.
