Hi - I did a search but could not find the answer to my specific question. I have a G19 with a New York Trigger. What specific parts do I need to make it lighter and perhaps lessen the travel/reset (if possible)? Also is this hard to do or can I do it myself? Help much appreciated,

Why not install the factory 5# trigger group and if that doesn't work try a 3.5-pound connector. I have a 3.5 # trigger in my Glock 17; it makes a great range gun but a not so great carry gun. Regards, Richard:D

Clobb,

All it takes is popping out the NY1 spring assembly and putting in a standard 5 lb. spring. It is very quick and easy to do with a little knowledge and practice.

I actually have a spare factory spring, new in package, that I would be willing to trade you for your NY1 spring assembly. I assume you're in the lower mainland, PM me and let me know if you want to meet up. I can show you how to do it, and also tell you about smoothing the pull, shortening the reset, and lightening the trigger break weight (the spring only affects the take-up weight, not the break weight).

Hi - thanks for the offer but I'm on Vancouver Island. Also, I'd kinda like to keep the NY as a spare anyway. So if I understand correctly all I need to do is order a 5lb spring or do I need the whole "assembly" - plastic thingy (getting technical here) and all?

Oh yeah, and Al Bundy for president!
 
I would suggest you try replacing the standard coil trigger spring with the olive NY-1 and a 3.5 pound connector. Trigger pull is about the same, but the reset is much more positive and no trigger stacking. This and Vickers Magazine Release are the only two mods I have done to my gun.

Ok so I have the Olive New York doodad - all I would need is the connector? But I still find the trigger pull too heavy...how would I fix that and what is stacking?:confused:

I have a 3.5 connector and a reduced power spring in my G17.

Makes a great range setup but would be too light for anything else.

glockmeister.com will ship to Canada and the parts are cheap.

Installation is very simple if you are mechanically inclined enough to disassemble a Glock (very easy).

If you are near Victoria, drop into MD Charleton in Brentwood Bay. They are a Glock dealer and have the parts you need and any installation advice as well.

I have a G22
I have changed everything out, down to the safety plunger.
Try the glockstore.com
They are out of San Diego.
and they are very fast
and have it all.
All part are extremly EZ to do yourself.

I don't know if Paulinski is confused or just misunderstood your original post, but he is suggesting the opposite of what you need to do. You already have the olive NY1 8 lb. trigger spring assembly, and you want to go with the stock 5 lb. trigger spring. The NY1 and NY2 springs are whole triangular plastic setups, whereas the stock spring is just a little coil with hooks at each end.

So you pop out the self-contained NY1 assembly, and then you hook in the trigger spring, one end to the back of the frame, the other end to the trigger bar. Of course, you have to have the Glock disassembled all the way to do this, which involves popping out the pins, slide stop, and locking block from the frame. This is pretty easy to do, but if you're not comfortable then get a gunsmith to do it. The whole trigger spring change will take less than a minute once the gun is fully stripped. And while you're at it, you can pull out the 5.5 lb. connector and swap in a 3.5 lb connector, which takes about 10 seconds, and polish up the contact points with metal polish for a smoother pull (otherwise known as the $0.25 trigger job). sure, but the NY is an 8lb
set up. the factory is 5.5lb.
NY set ups are for LE.
So if you are putting in a 3.5
connector in ?.
The orange NYs are 12lb.
Personally I like the 3.5lb
connector with the factory
5lb spring.

With the New York Trigger (NY-1) module replacing the standard trigger spring, it gives a firm resistance from the beginning of the pull. The real, often unrecognized benefit of the NY Trigger is a smooth, easy pull that is generally estimated at a bit over five pounds.

Measured pull weight is not all there is too a nice trigger.

And if you do this, you won't be shooting Production in IPSC nor SSP in IDPA.
