Glock v.s. Beretta

the glock owners will vote glock and the beretta owners will vote beretta...
have you gone down to a gun store and tried both in your hands? if not you really should...

You should round up a bunch of Vancouver guys and take us to the range and you can shoot all sorts of different guns.

Next Friday come out to Abbotsford, we can arrange for you to try Glocks, Beretta's, Sigs, Walthers, what ever.

Try & make sure that "whatever" includes the CZ-75 +/or Browning Hi-Power... :D :p

+1 for the Hi-Power :) . Really you should shoot a few 9's before you choose, they all have pros and cons, and you may have a distinct preference. Sig is a good choice as well.

Not wishing to flog this one any further.. would one of the moderators consider creating a stickie for, " I just got my", or "I'm thinking of getting my", or "I'm waiting for my PAL, and what A) First gun B) 9MM C)Hand cannon should I get????"
Much appreciated.

The only GOOD way for you to decide is to try one of each, but, as a Glock owner/shooter, I'd have to say that the Glock isn't for everyone; unless you're willing to put the time in to learn good DA trigger control, you'll pull everything low and left. If you can learn how to shoot well with a DA, though, you'll be able to shoot well with almost everything else as well.

having owned 3 Glock 17's and 2 Beretta 92's I can tell you that the beretta felt better in my hands but I shot better with the Glock. Like everyone else has told you, try as many as possible before you buy. Eventually you'll be like everyone else and want one of everything so it will al work out in the end!!

Way to put off a newbie.
I'm happy to talk to anyone considering their first handgun. A "sticky" doesn't cut it. This is a firearms discussion board after all....

I own both a Glock 17 and a Beretta 92F, and I must say...I love then both the same. But its hard to compaire them because there in their own different catagory. Glock is more "Tactical" and Beretta is more "Combat".

If your budget allows, buy both...or instead of buying brand new, get two used ones. A good used Glock or Beretta will be around $600-$750 each..lets say $1,300.00 for the pair..you'd spend only a couple more brownies and you'd get both handguns instead of only one....just a thought.

Good luck.

I spend a good portion of my time at the range coaching newbies in both
technique and choice of units...
It's a rare outing, that I'm not coaching someone who want's to try shooting or another club member that want's to give reloading a try....
All I was getting at was, perhaps, it might be helpful to have a 'template' for
the many individuals who find themselves in the same position that we've all
been in...who do I talk to, how do I get started, what should I buy first...
I would have appreciated a website like this, as well as a thread that I am
suggesting when I started....

I've owned a few Beretta 9mm's. Heck, I had a Beretta 92SB way back when there were virtually NO Beretta's in this country. Wouldn't care to own a Beretta 9mm now, though. Great big table leg grip. Over size gun for that puny 9mm ctg...:p Over priced & over rated.

Had a few Glocks now, too. Different kettle of fish. Don't buy that "tactical" vs. "combat" analogy. What a load...;) Anway, Glocks work. The G19 & G17 are perfect platforms for the 9mm. Would take one any day of the week over a Beretta. I prefer my Glocks in .40 cal, though...

Anyway, that all said... for a 9mm gimme a CZ-75 or a Browning HP MkIII... I prefer either of those over the Beretta or the Glock.

But hey, it's your money... buy what you want. :D
