Glock v.s. Beretta

How big are your hands? Some people think the Beretta grip is large and makes for poor handling. Glocks can be a bit boxey.

If a Glock is "boxy", what's a 1911? :D
Good point, though....hand size is very important. Small hands will be comfortable with a Glock...not so with a 92FS or a 96. That's why I bought a Vertec. ;)

To me, my Colt Combat Target with Pachmayrs and flat mainspring housing is as close to perfect as I've ever felt in a handgun—and I've got two Glocks:). I shoot the Glocks well but I'll be the first to admit that they are not the most comfortable handguns for me. The 1911 feels like it was modeled after my hands! The proof is in the pudding, or, er, the shooting, though—what counts is how well a handgun shoots not how comfortable it is.

I don't know about that; Vertec model might feel a little better in my hand than regular 92fs, but I can handle/control a regular Beretta better than a Vertec (plus it looks better), so that's what I got...

oh yeah, don't listen to NAA ;) :D

I have both, and I recommend you shoot both before you decide. I happen to like both equally, but you might find one or the other more comfortable or easier to operate. Try and find someone in your gun-club that has them and try them out. It's a big purchase either way and unless you're getting both you should make an informed decision.

well i read all your imput....thank you very much....but i have decided to..........GET BOTH....haha thanks everyone. You guys say great things about both handguns so im gonna get both of em.

GLOCK....what ever you do don't buy a Beretta....buy a Glock,H&K USP, Sig, or anything but a Beretta...my duty gun is a Beretta...actually it's my second Beretta because my first one blew up after only 15K. I'm not kidding around, don't buy Beretta.

I have fired the Beretta many times, and although I dislike it I am quite accurate with it...I have also fired the Glock, and again, although I dislike it I found it to hit the target repeatedly.

As far as price is concerned, also considering availability of parts and mags; for those considerations alone I would go with the Glock.

Otherwise I would get a Springfield XD9, or a STI Trojan in 9mm(I like 1911s)

:D

Would you mind shining a bit more light on your message?

It "blew up"? Duty gun........So Beretta 96D would be an accurate guess?

Way to generalize here. Oh wait, don't buy a Glock because the 21's have had a few kabooms. The Beretta's slide will fly off and embed itself in your forehead. The Glock has poor chamber support and will explode in your hand. CZ's will give you herpes. I'm sure that there is no brand out there that hasn't had a failure with at least one of their products. I'll go with the others here, find a store that will let you fondle a few different pistols, and go with the one that feels right for you. It might not even be a Glock or a Beretta. I've shot both and they were both very nice. I seemed to be more accurate with the Glock on my first try even.

Personally, I would go with a Glock. I think the grip is far better. I really like the sites. And, they are easy to operate for a lefty. I am probably in a minority, but I think Berettas are not nice looking guns. I hate the looks of the open slide.

Although I consider the Beretta an exceptional handgun, I also don't like the look of the open slide. I don't think I hate it enough, not to buy it.
