Well I have a Glock 22 Gen 4, that I'm going to sell because I've come to the conclusion that I hate it. No ifs ands or buts...I just plain don't like it.

Now for my predicament; I don't know if it's the Glock that I hate or the .40 S&W cartridge that I hate.

I'm all set up to reload the .40 as well as 9mm and .45, but this was my only .40 pistol. So do I buy another .40 to replace the G22 or try another Glock maybe in 9mm or .45. and sell my Dillion caliber conversions as well.

What are people's opinions on the Glock in .40 vs 9mm or .45? What about other pistols in .40 (Sig, M&P, CZ etc.). And by the way I'm not competing with this, it's just a plinker.

Thoughts?

I have heard people say they compare firing the Glock 22 in particular (in .40 S&W) to be much like "work". Personally, I can say it's nicer to fire than the Glock 21 (my opinion, put the flamethrowers away), but not nicer than the Glock 17. Tough question to answer for you, it would be good if you could try some other pistols out in .40 before making a final decision.

I personally don't like Glock pistols, and have many 40s

do you have other glocks, or anyone you you know with a Glock 17?

Projectiles for the .45 cost too much...

I liked my G-22, and my G-20. I can't see it being the round, I was having real trouble with my wrist when I had both and neither gave me any grief. I didn't like the unsupported case, but that's it.

I've literally shot thousands of rounds thru Glocks in .40 S&W since circa 1994'ish.

Personally, I like the Glock. And the .40 S&W [also have a BHP & Colt Delta with .40 S&W barrel in it].

If you liked your Glock I'd suggest getting a 9mm conversion barrel for it. But I think that's moot now, eh?

In .40 I prefer my M&P or STI Ranger to the G22 I owned for a bit—I had a G31C .357 top end for it that was a real hoot to shoot, but I didn't really care for the feel of the .40 in it. I've owned a few other Glocks in both 9mm and .45 and preferred all of those to the G22.

I owned two g22s in 20 years, the first one was sold after 2000 rounds, the latter after 2 mags. Glocks are not just for me.

Have several .40's.. My g22 is one of my fave pistols....love the .40 cal...shoot way more .40 than .45...maybe it's just the caliber you're not a fan of.....it's pretty common on here...however I've gort more .40's than 9's..

The only reason I shoot .40 is to make major power factor in IPSC.

If I wasn't competing the only calibers that I'd shoot would be 9mm and a bit of .45.

Outside of a specific need, .40 is a poor choice: expensive (as compared to 9mm) and more recoil.

(And I shoot a pile of .40)

...I don't know if it's the Glock that I hate or the .40 S&W cartridge that I hate...do I buy another .40 to replace the G22 or try another Glock maybe in 9mm...

What do you want? Do you want something for IPSC? Do you want a contemporary (plastic) service pistol?

40 is not as 'snappy' in an all-steel double-stack. The weight and the thickness, I think. So, if you're purpose is IPSC Standard, you could do worse than that. Otherwise...
