Ummm.. If you look at just at XD it is a Glock rip off with just enough changes to negate a patent infringement lawsuit. When is a copy ever better than the original? Also the price difference is $100. Glock 22 @ Questar $850, Springfield XD @ P&D enterprises $950. Glock 17 for $800 @ Questar. Get the original!!
This is patently false...the only thing that seems to be similar internally between the Glock and SA-XD is the fact they both use a striker, that they both have trigger safeties, and that their frames are both made of polymer...but that is where the similarities end.
The Glock has a double action style fire control whereas the SA-XD is single action.
The SA-XD has a unique slide locking safety that when unchambered and with the striker down, the slide cannot be opened unless the grip safety is depressed.
The SA-XD has a loaded chamber indicator and a cocked indicator whereas the Glock does not.
The Glock barrel employs polygonal rifling whereas the SA-XD uses traditional land/groove rifling.
The Glock takedown system uses two small spring levers whereas the SA-XD uses a turnstyle takedown lever.
The Glock rails have integrally inserted steel rails in the polymer that are then moulded over with the injection polymer moulding process, whereas the SA-XD front rails are made of a single piece of steel, that also acts as a locking insert similar to that of the SIG P-series Pistols that is pinned in place with two pins and the takedown lever, yet the rear rails are part of the moulded frame and are not reinforced. (the steel insert is more easily replaced if broken)
The SA-XD has an ambidextrous magazine catch and a polished mag well that uses steel magazines...the Glock uses metal impregnated plastic mags and a left side mag catch (dominant side only).
The Glock has more models and more calibres to choose from, while the SA-XD only has three basic models, and five calibres to choose from(9mm, 357sig, 40S&W, 45GAP, 45ACP)...both can be had in multiple tones.
The Glock is lighter but thicker...the SA-XD is thinner but heavier.
Summed up, these pistols are not the same by any stretch of the imagination. Even the grip angles and bore axis grip alignments are different. Both are reliable although there are some tests that have revealed that the SA-XD is more reliable with more differing ammunition manufacturers than that of the Glock models.
The SA-XD has more in common with the HK USP than it does with the Glock.
