I'm reloading ipsc loads for my glock 17. 147 grain bullet, 3.4 grains of titegroup, winchester small pistol primers, once fired winchester cases. Fairly mild loads, lots of radius left on the primer, they are not flattened at at all, but I get slightly pierced primers 2 out of 10 rounds. So I tried 3.2 grains of titegroup and still the same thing. Mild recoil, lots of radius on the primer, but still pierced primers. Am I missing something ? OAL seating length is 1.15in. Are Winchester small pistol primers soft ? Is it the Glock striker ? Am I over pressure ?

That's a really soft load, you should not be piercing primers with it. As a matter of fact, that's my load with MG 147gr CMJ. You might want to have a look at your striker. Win primers are generally known as one of the harder primer.

+ 1 for what reddot said...sounds like more of a gun problem to me....

I also use Winchester small rifle primers.....apparently the metal is thicker and they work really well for hot loads in .40......

Had that problem with my first Glock. It was a realy strong firing pin spring. after leaving it cocked a year and 2000rds it went away. Durring that time the pierced primers never caused a problem.
