Glock17 or M&P9

I see that you chose price over quality, clearly to you, as stated in this sentence, price came before ergonomics...
So, after the trigger job that you'll need in the POS trigger that the mp has, how much cheaper is the mp compared to the Glock?

I don't shoot glocks btw, I do not own any, I have shot a few and owned MP. So I am not a block fanboy or anything...but VS threads never go anywhere, there is always that person that chooses price over quality and it happens in every aspect of life.

I didnt even mention quality and yet you 'assume' that I put price over quality.
I have looked through both guns and the build quality and overall quality are almost the same to me.
Even if the price of M&P is the same as glock, I would still buy the M&P.

I had a Glock before. Gen 2. Sold it. Got M&P recently. The grip is very positive on M&P compared to brick-design-style on Glock. M&P is very pleasant to the eye and to your hand. Equally reliable, equally accurate.

The problem comes with mags. Glock original mags are pinned to 10 and are flawless. M&P mags are cut at the bottom and replaced with huge plastic plug. The difference is noticeable when you have one round in the chamber and are trying to slam in the fully loaded 10-rounder mag. It just doesn't go in!!!

In IPSC competition situations -- this is unforgivable!!!

Take the follower out and trim the base. The follower is bottoming out on the springs when the magazine in fully loaded. Simple fix and applies to almost all the new M&P painted mags of recent production.

As to IPSC, well the Glock nor the M&P is going to overcome the 5# minimum 1st trigger pull rule in IPSC hence one reason the CZ style DA/SA guns seem to prevail in IPSC Production. That said there are only about 2,500 IPSC shooters in Canada and likely less than 4,000 handgun competition shooters in the country. So I am sure the loss of our business is not much of a concern to Glock or S&W for that matter. Both pistols are more competitive in IDPA and USPSA where there is no minimum trigger pull limits. Both pistols regularly dominate SSP, ESP and CDP pistol divisions in IDPA.

Somebody mentioned the cost of a trigger job for the M&P as if the Glock trigger is something to behold. Even if you except the Glock has a better trigger the cost of replacing the Glock sights is far more than simply replacing the USB with an Apex USB and if you cjoose the trigger return spring. Both can be had for about $35. or less and the trigger in the M&P is instantly improved.

Take Care

Bob
ps Both are fun guns to shoot....pick one and go play.

I've chosen the M&P and till now I am very happy with that. I fired Glocks in the past and I like them. Don't get me wrong I like Glocks but I AM more accurate with the M&P's in general and they fit my hands better.

Cheers.
