Hmmmm..rooted around for a few months and brought home a G17 from one of the fine members here...Play with both of them and decide what you like best!..Get some ammo,. .. shoot it for a while,.. and decide what doodads to add later...
I own an M&P9 definitely put an apex trigger set in. Even with that improvement I feel the G17 has a nice trigger.
For me the M&P fits nicer in the hand but from my experience the G17 is a slightly more accurate pistol. I find the G17 with more aggressive angle better with recoil management. A plus for the M&P is if you slam a mag during slide lock reload the slide goes forward automatically which is nice during competition.
That is just my 2cents. This is all subjective as I'm a relatively new shooter.

Ditto my G19. As a lefty it is nice - I don't have to fack with the slide release compromising my grip. Just seat the mag with a thump and she's ready to rock.

Since then I have bought both G17 and M&P9. Both great guns! Like others have already stated... hold (and shoot if possible) both pistols. It really does come down to personal preference imo.

S&W mags are expensive, and S&W has sh1t warranty service in Canada.

I wanted the M&P but went Glock just for the mags. OEM, aftermarket, long short and inbetween, All available and reasonable. The clincher was sharing with the carbines. Very happy with my choice in the end. Also, as stated repeatedly, you WILL eventually own both
What are you talking about? S&W has excellent warranty service up here. Wortners is terrific to deal with....

Riiight, except for the crumbling ambi mag release on G21's, RSA's of early Gen4's, extractor on early to current Gen4's.....

40 bucks is OK since the odd time I've seen M&P mags they were closer to 50 than 40. Glock 10 or 10/17 round mags go for $35, and most of my (excellent) KCI mags I paid $25 or less. It adds up. Beauty has its price. I guess thats why Glock stuff is cheaper LOL!

I have too many guns. Want to nail down to what I will really use and sell off the unnecessary safe queensFunny. It's like a 50/50 split about triggers. 50% like the M&P trigger out of the box, and half of them say they like Glock trigger best. Go figure!
Never used warranty on anything. Don't know how it works even. Who you call, how you deal with it. Do you have to ship it to the States? What about the permits. You gotta have a separate ATT to ship it to warranty -- total headache. Don't like warranties. Home gunsmithing is the answer LOL
That speaks volumes... but not necessarily about quality but more about Glock marketing efforts and their success with it.
