Good day fellas, I was wondering if I could tap into the communal knowledge here where holsters are concerned with the subject pistol setup? What is the best OWB holster for a G21 with this light on it, and what is the best IWB holster for same?

TIA

It's a bit of an unusual combination - Compact light on a large frame pistol. You might not get many responses on that, specifically.

In general, we'll need more info before being able to recommend a holster - There are many options, and each one is great for a particular application. What are you using it for?

Fair. The compact light on the large framed pistol actually works really nicely. I'm surprised it's not a popular combo? I won't be shooting ipsc with a .45 acp, or any competition games, just range use really.
Are there duty type holsters that you could recommend?

Do you have any other holster experience to compare to? Not that you need it, it's just there are big differences in types of retention, for example.

I've used everything from Fobus to leather in the past... a few 1911 holsters that are thumb trigger released.

Good to know - What type of retention and how much coverage do you want for this holster? Belt loops or modular attachment?

Some ranges may have an issue with you using an IWB holster for anything other than the specific gun games that allow them.

If the big brand holster makers can not accommodate what you're looking for, Solely Canadian will surely do.

I can't use an iwb holster at the range. Doesn't mean I can't have them though. ;)

IWB are good for concealed carry and a poor choice for range use imho.
I would look at Safariland as mentioned and possibly Bladetech.

If concealment is needed, maybe look at DeSantis.

Solely Canadian has PM'd me (x2). How are they? Does the kydex not take the finish off pistols?

#1 kydex holster maker in the country IMO.
I would place it above Grayfox, both in product quality and CS.

I never had that problem, but if its a concern they can suede-line the interior of the holster for you (Similar to a Safariland 6354).

Solely Canadian has the best reputation here currently.

Any holster will wear a pistol's finish, there's no great solution (various linings actually help to trap debris and can accelerate wear). Some are better than others at reducing the wear, and some pistols have tough enough finishes that they don't show much (or any) wear. Bottom line: If you can't stand the idea of holster wear, don't holster your pistol.

Depending on the pistol and light and holster details, some holsters retain on the light itself. In theory, this will minimize holster wear on the pistol.

I started enjoying my pistols more once I stopped worrying about normal wear from normal use. Collector pieces aside, of course.
