Go-to loads in a .260 Rem?

I just bought a used Model Seven in .260 Remington.

Does anyone have loads they will usually try first? I do realize all rifles are different, but that being said, I have owned several .280's and a bunch of .257 Robertses and .250 Savages and I know what I will try first with those.

I have some IMR 4350, H4350, Hybrid 1000, 4831(H&IMR), VV N140 and 160.

Factory ammo is unavailable here, so I will be ordering in some bullets, likely in 129-grain and 140-grain weights unless someone suggests starting with a 120.

I have found the H4350 to be a very good powder with the 140gr. It's accurate and has good velocity. The case is a bit small for the slower powders you mention.

Powders in the 4350 range ie either 4350 H414 W760 rl 17. I have tried as slow as IMR 4831 & RL 19 but don't get any better velocity and they are compressed.
For a hunting bullet I like the 125 partition or the 130 accubond.

I like H4350 and RL 17 45 gr or so. Lapua cases. 120 Prohunters, 120 TTSX, 120 Ballistic tips and 130 Berger are good ones.

I do not have a 260 anymore but when I did I had very good results with a full load of H4831SC under 140gr Partitions.

I have a Sako 85 in 260 rem and it likes 45 grains of RL19 pushing a 125 grain partition. Shoots sub MOA all day and sub 0.75 MOA when I am having a good day.

120 TTSX and H4350 is my current load. Have had great results with H4350 and 130AB and 100BT also...

140sst with h4831. Somewhere around 45.5gr has shot well in each of the three 260's I had.

Will this be a bullet for hunting or target? I don't have a 260 but shoot a 6.5X47. I agree that H4350 will be a good powder to use. I have also read that guys are getting good results with R26. As far as bullets I recommend the 130 Berger Hunting and the 130 AccuBond. I brought both my X47 to Texas this past January and shot 10 Whitetail and one hog. Both bullets did extremely well but I do realize that these deer are SMALL. For a good hunting/target bullet I would go with the 130 Berger hunting VLD. Shots on the Texas deer varied from 80 yds to 300 yds. Both the Berger and AccuBond exited every time. I even tried to catch a Berger on a hard quartering shot but it exited as well.

140gr partitions and 39gr of h4350 worked great in my 260 on elk this fall. Slower, but no issues. For white tail I jumped to the 130gr accubond and loaded 46gr of RL19. Dropped my deer on the spot. Both loads shot lights out in my tikka t3. Very impressed over all!

My .260 loves H4350 and 120 grain Ballistic Tips. My go to deer load as it has great expansion with with lighting like effect and amazing penetration ( complete pass through on all deer I have shot )

H4831, H4350, Re16 are all good. Mine likes a full case of H4831SC and a 136 Scenar for paper and a slightly lighter load with a 140 partition for hunting. Both in Lapua brass with Federal Gold Medal Match primers.
