Guys was able to go on a Goat cull today with my good mate on property he has access too!

It was a typical Winters Day down low in the hometown, no sun shining through at all All day! pretty standard most days this time of year!

I was up at sparrows fart an headed for the Hills in search of Sambar deer. the fog really wrecked my morning an I only put up a few critters but was unable to locate a stag or shoot anything.

So the Arvo came an we set up for a Goat hunt!

Heres a few photos from once we Climbed up high above the Fog an reached the Goats!

I used my T3 .308 150gr corelokts & Nathan used a M700 .222 and 50gr corelokts.

Yes mate, good fun goat hunting, I don't do it often so it is great for a change, they arnt challenging to hunt in general, but the challenge is getting in close an using an odd ball cartridge or old open sighted rifle imo, I had the #1 .303 with me although the thought of a long range billy excited me more!

They are great on the BBQ cut into 'Chops' !
Oh my, he's charmed by the Tikka...............
Great photos laddie.

Cheers Looky! Id say I like the Calibre moreso than the Tikka although tis vee lite!

What a cool place to hunt. Hunting above the clouds is a rare privilege here.....and in Manitoba it had better be some low lying cloud

What's the average air temp there this time of year at sea level.. Snow just in the highlands ?

Well mate, we are experiencing a cold an wet week this past week, high rain fall an snow down low. Average temp in the foothills are around 8 degree max days, an that's around 400 MASL. Generally the snow will be well above 900 MASL in middle of winter. Keep in mind this is the First snow fall and ski resorts only just opened 2 weeks ago.

The snow is only in the Lower Eastern region of Australia, the snow falls on the Main Devide which runs from Victoria into lower New South Wales.

Most of the Snowys are National Park, which means we can hunt it, although the Tracks have Gates on them which get closed at the beginning of Winter, which stop the average Joe driving hes Vehicle into wet greasy slippery potential blizzard conditions..... No more common sense in Australia..

We can however Walk on foot or Push bike "behind the gates" and many will bury a Stash while Gates are open, to walk in behind in Winter. food etc.

The snow pushes the Deer down into the Lower reaches, and with Me being in the Foothills, they are piling up at the back fence ;)

Cheers for the replies, makes it worth posting up on here an glad you guys get to see some Aussie hunting.

Cheers
