Browning maxus 28" barrel. Winchester long beard 3" 5 shot, Carlson's long beard choke 50 yards. Might be a little hard on the taxidermy...

Awesome 50 yard pattern. I am using a Browning Maxus as well, with the win long beards #5 shot. Getting similar results but with a Kicks turkey choke. Gotta love those long beards.

Have you patterned at any other distance and if so, what was the result?

I like shooting birds when they are in inside 15-20 yards. Its crazy how tight a pattern is with my gun at that distance. Very little room for error when the pattern is the size of a softball

Very nice OP! After about 400 bucks in ammo this year and a few sessions I've locked in winchester long beard 3.5" #6 for my season this spring. Great to know others are finding great success with that ammo as well. Briley superfull (.675) choke.

That is one of the reasons the above load is in one barrel of my browning cynergy while the other has a skt choke and great pattern to about 20yd or so. No 'too close' misses here. ;)

Wasn’t me that shot the pattern the fella I do a lot of hunting with did. The results guys are getting with modern Turkey loads and chokes is outstanding. Maybe he will chim into the topic.

No scope this is with beads as well.

I’m not going to lie, the first shot at 20yrds showed my gun shooting high and it damn near missed the paper. But yes after I got the point of impact figured out it’s pretty much a soft ball. I think I’ll be using the federal 3rd degree i got if I’m in the trees and going to be shooting closer.

Yes with all the videos I have watched and tests I have done.iy works very well at 30 yards and under. Does not seem to like very full chokes for any longer range shooting

I did not know that, makes sense though, I was patterning them at 40 yards with all my other turkey loads and based on the 40 yard patterns I thought they were the worst, absolute trash. Had no clue they were for shorter range. But wouldn’t almost any shell be good for 20 to 30yards??

The 3rd degree is advertised to be great at all distances, unfortunately it seems all they offer past 30yrds is good advertising.
