I been shooting ORPS for few years now. Shot production class from the start. First with a Savage B22 and then with a CZ457 Thumbhole laminate.
This year I decided to take the Plunge and try running a very basic open class setup with an mtr in a oryx chassis with Arca rail and rail bag and bipod. It’s a nice rifle and balances better than the production rifles, the adjustability is awesome and it’s nice to be perfectly aligned with the scope. But in the end I honestly just prefer shooting my old rifle. And most days I even manage to shoot the old rifle better with wider ranges of ammo to boot.
I really am contemplating going back to production and selling the MTR setup. By no means is the MTR inaccurate, it shoots quite well and I have only tried what I had on hand so far Sk standard, RWS rifle match, Aguila SV and CCI SV.
Part of me thinks maybe I am jumping the gun as maybe I just need more time to gel with this rifle and maybe once I find the perfect round for it I will be astonished and not fathom going back ever again. BUT just for now I sure do love my wood and steel offerings even more. And selling the MTR setup May afford other wood and steel goodies on the bucket list (would love a nice BL-22 or T-Bolt to join my Sa-22 brownings).
What say you all what would be your choice?
