Same here. I bought a new truck less than 2 years ago and it has not seen winter yet. The old jeep sees the salt and I wash it once a week. They must get paid by the ton to dump that crap on the roads. Clear sunny day and dry roads and they are out salting. Bastards!

Yes. If MTO officer is having a bad day they'll give you a fine if there's too much salt/mud/whatever preventing a clear view of license plates, lights, unit number. Even too much salt on windows can get you a fine.

As for washing vehicles in the winter, it's a must in areas where they throw down tons of salt. Without regular washing you can almost see the rust forming. If temps remain cold it's no big deal, but salt caked vehicles rust like crazy in areas with big temperature swings.
 
With all the hoopla about saving the environment they sure don't seem too concerned about pouring thousands of tons of salt on the roads here that end up in the lakes and rivers.

I explain im stuck in carwash and its been half an hour... fumes from diesel are getting to me as the sign says dont turn off motor..F that im chocking so i turn off motor and owner comes. shuts off wash and tells me to move out forward.. well the dryer is stuck in down position and my truck is too tall to get out going forward as i have a cap on.I inch forward to get arm of the back of the cap and its stuck in that position.They have the sign that says max 7 ft with a hanging stick which truck fit without touching as the truck was aparently almost 7 ft tall.long story backed truck out and got on road 2 hours later.. Still dizzy from fumes.I go to my spot and the first bunny bolts and i miss..keep walking in the fresh air and i dont feel so good, another bunny bolts under brush and im too slow. I guess the fumes got to me so i head back to truck and call it a day, My heads pounding.get home have a soup and rest..Bunnies 2 me 0 with a spliting head ache ....Should of stayed in bed..Going out on weekend again this time no car washes...

I drive a redimix truck - cement mixer and we pour floors inside brand new warehouses . they have finally gotten smarter over the years . I remember sometimes the air being blue inside. and they have a machine that spreads a hardener powder on top of the floor before they polish it . well sometimes they don't have a machine and they have two guys throwing powder by the shovel full on top of the new floor . try breathing in fumes and powder. now some places put exhaust systems that blow the inside air our under the bay doors. next time go to a do it yourself car wash . that would be a what 7.2 Liter in that Ford wouldn't it ? I would have shut the motor off and if they were stupid enough to not know you shouldn't have gone in there if your truck didn't start they would have had to pay for a tow truck to get you out . next time shut the motor off and deal with it later . I'll bet the truck would have started again . I hope they gave you your money back .
 
Switched to sprinter vans around ten years ago ( excellent idea) and went to sell my last GMC Savana , took it to the auto car wash that I’ve always used . Van was empty now and sitting a LOT taller, tools , fittings , pipe really add up . Tremendous crashing noise I took off before it made it halfway down the back of the van and I had to go inside and explain what had happened.
