going on 3rd fire on my brass and havent needed to trim

hi, I am going on the 3rd fire on my lapua brass and I still have not had to trim to length.
Is this normal?

Lapua 6.5-284 sized up to 7mm

If you have a tight skinny chamber and a fat resizing die the cases will not grow much when sized.

"BUT" if you have a fat chamber and a skinny die the case will grow more when sized.

Bottom line case growth depends on how much the case body is reduced in diameter when full length resized

Example, in the same caliber a small base die will make the case grow more than a standard die.

That's a good one Ganderite. I have a bud that does the same thing. necks up 6.5/284 brass for his 284 factory chambered rifle. It's one of his foibles that he swears by. I believe the neck is shortened a bit when it's swaged up. Could be why the OP hasn't had to trim yet. Mind you he doesn't give any indication how hot his loads are.

OP, be careful with that Lapua brass, which is excellent by the way, it may be stretching at the other end. This might give you a weak ring just ahead of the web. As long as the case head isn't expanding you should be ok.
