I am moving to the states in June and have started doing some research on the best utilitarian gun. Currently leaning towards a glock 19, but below are a couple models I'm looking at:

  • Sig p365 macro
  • Glock 19
  • S&W M&P
  • PSA Dagger
  • Ruger RXM
  • Springfield echelon

What do you think of the above/what would be your go-to recommendation?

A life long friend lives in Montana. She has jeffrie its a 9mm s&w mp 2.0 with the fancy new design 4" barrel. She's a women so it got a little heavy at times in the holster and smaller hands etc. So she got the s&w bodyguard in .38 and absolutely loves it. Lighter fits her frame better etc. All excellent firearms you've chosen except I hate glocks but many love them. My advice get there do your paperwork and then go shopping. America really has some very very cool stuff available. And btw are you married can you take me with lmfao 🤣

Yup all of them.
They will all feel and point a bit different, try them all if you can.
If you plan on carrying, start with the Glock or Ruger since the Glock 19 ecosystem is the most evolved.
Range use I’d lean towards sig.
lucky dog, I hope you enjoy your freedom to the fullest

Are a us citizen? Because it matters when it comes to owning guns in the us
I don't think citizenship is critical. I believe it's LEGAL RESIDENCE, plus you have to be not one of the proscribed classes of people (i.e. felon, dishonorable US military discharge, illegally in the USA, drug addict, wife abuser etc...)

Yea, this is correct. I just need to be a green card holder. I will totally be doing everything by-the-book. No use heading south only to get sent back by being dumb!

I'm looking forward to the new season.

Let me live through you vicariously and get a staccato P or Kimber 2011 brother!

Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS with Aimpoint ACRO.

Tried and tested, and less money than the Sig P365.

A Glock 48 MOS is worth a look as well. Slimmer profile.

Get the same ammo as the local police force or the FBI for carry.

The one thing that you have to remember about concealed carry... If you have to defend yourself (God forbid), you'll have to turn the pistol in for evidence. No point in getting something expensive.

Congrats on the move!

Can I ask what you'll be doing in the US? No need to name the company, just the field you work in.

Huzzah, Indiana is a ā€œfreeā€ā€˜state, hopefully you begin a ā€œEDCā€ rotation of your carry guns. Taurus GX2 & the ā€œnewā€ Tias PX9 Comp, both sub $400 & excellent ā€œbang for your buckā€ Enjoy šŸ»
