hey everyone,

im new to the whole firearms thing and i know most of you have a lot more experience than i do. im looking to purchase a 1911 chambered in 9mm but im torn between the Kimber Stainless II and the Springfield Armory Range Officer. if you were in my shoes, which one would you pick and why?

thanks in advance!

STI is the better gun value but If you are set on those 2 options you mentioned just get the one that appeals to you more. You gotta live with it lol If you must have an opinion I would go with the springfield

The Springfield Armory Range Officer has received some very good reviews. I don'y have any experience with Kimber.
Based on that , my choice for ME between the 2 would be the Springfield .

Of the two choices only, I'd go with the Springfield.

But not being handcuffed by that for a 1911 in 9mm I'd still go STI Spartan over the two.

OP, a friend has a Springfield 1911. About 1.5 years ago it broke, slide cracked. He sent it in for warranty service then. He just got it back this month.

Between the two, I prefer Springfield, but I own STI's.

Slide cracked, 1 1/2 years to get it back & you prefer Springfield? :HR:

To the OP, this is precisely why everybody is suggesting the Spartan, especially if you want a 9mm 1911. I have one with over 8k rounds and their warranty support in Canada is amazing. Springfield and Kimber, as you can see, not so much...
