So I got this idea, since I have so much free time on my hands.

I'm sure it's not a new idea and maybe someone here has done it, or seen it.

I want to take the handguard on my Tact 22 and shoten in by maybe 4 or 5 inchs. Maintain the front sight some how and throw a fake can/barrel shroud on there but have it not extend past the stock barrel thus no worry of "muffling" the sound.

I think it would look cool, do nothing, but look cool.

Anyone seen this? Done this?

I may have to make the barrel shroud with shouldn't be a problem, unless someone makes some type of slip on/clamp on shroud?

Help me out here.

Thanks

Exactly, but instead of a fake flash hider, a longer fake can/barrel shroud requiring no machining to the rifle it's self.

Sweet.

That's what I have designed in my mind, I just hope it works in real life. I do wish I could thread the muzzle though and make the front of the fake silencer screw on.
I don't think I am going to take off as much forend as P-J did but I am still figuring it out. Measure about 1,000,000 times, cut once.

I dont have my mossberg close by (working) if the barrel is tapered it maybe a little tougher, but I have a plan for that. if it's one OD then it's much easier. I was thinking for attachment instead of a thread on either a set screw or two underneath (and just dimple the barrel with the tip of a drill bit). Or cut a slot in the bottom of the shround long enough that it will pinch when a screw is tighetened. (recessed into the shroud).

I Think that either one will work it's just a matter of doing it.

Which I will this spring when I get some time off.

It tapers from .700 to .600 over the entire length.
You said you had "free time on your hands" yet you also say you are working right now and you are in Northern AB. Are you an operating engineer by chance?

Hahaha, nope. I'm a service hand for diggin rigs, so I have lots of free time (at work), but no tools.

That taper should be okay for the way I want to do it. Aluminum sleeve, .701 hole for all but the last .100" at the muzzle end. Then a .601 hole at the muzzle.

Attached as I said before and good to go. I got a buddy who works in a machine shop I might be able to talk him into it, might have to pay.

You see the look I'm going for I think!
