I've got a springfield loaded operator (PX9105ML). Looks like this:

As you can see, it has an ambi safety - in order to mount a brass catcher, I need to dump the ambi and go back to "standard", or whatever we'd call it, so it will look like this:

So, do I just buy this gizmo from Wilson Combat (through Brownells) and do it myself (I'm mechanically competent, but currently lacking in patience for hand-fitting), or is this more of a gunsmith job?

Anyone done this before?

I went from standard to ambi with a Brownells kit on a NORINCO no less. A piece of cake. Going back to standard should be equally as easy.

NOT a job for a gunsmith unless you are totally useless with manual activities. there is nothing to file, pound or cut.

The ambi safety is 2 or 3 pieces (I forget), the standard safety is 1 piece... EASY stuff!

I was going to do it on my Loaded model when I first got it but now I don't care.

At the time I was told that it may just be a drop in but depending on the gun it may need to be fitted by a smith.

Might as well try it yourself first and if you can't get it in take it to a smith. Should be pretty cheap to do as I imagine it would take them about 2 minutes.
